S. ROSS STOVE Filed O t g, 1924 nvulllll q T Il mvawraR SHERMAN R J ZM' IQMM ATTOR S Patented Dec. 21, 1926.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SHERMAN ROSS, OF PIQUA, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE FAVORITE STOVE & RANGE COM- PANY, 0F PIQUA, OHIO, A CORPORATION OF OHIO.
STOVE.
Application filed October 8, 1924. Serial No. 742,367.
My invention relates to stoves.
It is the object of my invention to provide a stove divided by a collapsing or telescoping partition so that the heat in the lower part of the stove from a single burner may be usedv to cook the food in the upper part of the stove, thus having the advantage of two different ovens from a s ngle oven, or the advantage of a dual oven from a single oven.
It is my object to thus secure double capacity for baking, roasting, boiling and stewing, by merely sliding back the front section of the separating partition between the upper and lower ovens.
Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the oven partially in section, with the upper from door and lower front door open in horizon tal positions, and the ring attached to the front section of the sliding partition in its vertical position, ready to be grasped by the operator of the oven.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1, looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 3 is a section on the line. 33 of Figure 1. looking in the direction of the arrows, as indicated.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 indicates a plurality of feet for the oven which is of the conventional type consisting of a bottom 2, a top 3, and side walls l. An inner liner is provided generally indicated 5. If desired a filler of some desirable material may be placed between the walls of the oven to retain the heat in it.
The oven is provided with a lower door 6 and an upper door 7.
lVithin the oven are guides 8 on the side walls thereof for guiding supporting plates or trays, upon which the utensils are mount ed.
At the bottom of the oven is a burner 9, fed by a supply pipe 10. At the top of the oven is another burner 11.
On a level with the upper door, dividing the oven into two compartments generally designated A and B, is a sliding partition or telescoping partition consisting of a stationary section 12 and a moving section 13. To the latter section is attached a ring 14 by a clip 15, so that the section may be moved backwardly on one of the slides or supports 16 over the stationary portion 12 or may be moved forwardly to completely separate the oven into two compartments. The stationary section 12 is attached to the oven by rivets or s'niilar attaching means, such as 1'7.
It will be apparent that there may be a plurality of such sliding sections and such sections may be arranged in varying *idths and combinations.
If it is desired to separate the oven into the two compartments for separate types of halting, the partition is drawn completely across the oven. But if it is desired to take advantage of the heat from the lower burner, thus economizing on the consumption of gas, particularly in an oven of this character having walls which retain the heat, then the partition may be collapsed or telescoped, permitting the accumulated heat in the lower compartment B to pass upwardly and treat the contents of compartment A.
It will be understood that I desire to comprehend within my invention such modifications as may be found necessary in adapting it to varying conditions of use.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
An oven comprising a casing having upper and lower openings and doors therefor, horizontal guides extending across the in nor faces of the opposite sides of the casing between the upper and lower openings in the casing. a horizontal partition mounted on the guides to div de the interior of the casing into upper and lower compartments respectively opposite the upper and lower doors, said partition comprising two sections with one of said sections fixed on the guides in the rear part of the casing and the other of said sections sl dable in the guides and on the fixed section to close the space between the front edge of the fixed section and the front wall of the casing, and means for heating the interior of the casing.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature.
SHERMAN ROSS.
