Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH LAUBSER AND WILLIAM WOERIJE, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN SAID WOERLE ASSIGNOR TO SAID LAUBSER.
IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE-STOPPING APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,131, dated March 23, 1875 application filed December 2, 1874.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that we, JOSEPH LAUBSER an WILLIAM WOERLE, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Horse-Stoppers, of which the following is a specification Our inventionhas for its object the stopping of horses whenever it is necessary to stop them from running away, and consists of a bar of iron or any other rigid substance covered with some kind of soft material, and hung across the breast of the horse, and whenever it is necessary to stop the horse this iron is dropped down so as to come across his legs and prevent his running.
The drawing represents a view of the stopper, with the straps to hold it, attached.
A is the stopper. B B the straps which hold it, their inner ends attached to the axletrees of the buggy, or to any other portion of the Vehicle which will hold them rigid. O C, the straps which hold the stopper up over the breast of the horse out of the way when not in use. This stopper is hung across the breast of the horse, the two straps B B running back, and fastened to something in the Vehicle in which the party is riding, so that as the stopper is dropped down it will be held firmly in place. We claim as our invention- J A horse-stopper, consisting of rigid bar A, and straps B B and G 0, arranged, combined, and operating substantially as set forth.
