Application filed December 26, 1925. 'Serial No. 77,739.
This invention relates to improvements in factories and other buildings in which a large number of persons are employed, to provide lavatories for washing purposes.
These lavatories are usually of circular shape to permit a number of persons to wash at the same time, and are'provided with valves for controlling the flow of water. The valves are usually positioned on one side of the lavatory, and if a person washing on the side of the lavatory opposite to the side provided with the valve, desires to turn the water off or on, it. is necessary to walk around the fountain, with the result that the valve is often left in the on position, and considerable water is wasted.
It is one of the objects of the present invention to overcome the before mentioned objectionable features, and provide valves which may be cont-rolled from a plurality of sides of the fountain to control the flow of water from the desired section of the spray provide a multiple control sectional spray;
head provided with removable screen means for each spray section of the spray head.
A further object of the invention is to provide a multiple control sectional spray head which is of simple construction, is strong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of the improved multiple control sectional spray head and its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.
In the accompanying drawing, in which the same reference characters indicate the same parts in all of the views:
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of the improved multiple control sectional spray head;
Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional detail view taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional detail view taken on line 83 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates a spray head casing which is preferably of circular shape in horizontal'plane, and is provided with a lower removable provided with a circumferential line of using same.
plate 6 formed with a central inlet opening 1 7 and an upwardly projecting tubular ex- 7 tension 8 closed at its upper end and bearing against the casing. of the casing is of smaller diameter than the lower portion, and is formed with four radially extending tubular portions 9.. The casing is also divided-into segmental com partments 10 by vertically extending radial partitions ll'which are. formed integral with The upper portion '5 y the side and upper walls of the casing and.
contact with thebottom plate 6 andthe tubular extension8 to form substantially a water tight connection therebetween. Bolts 12 securely-clamp the bottomfplate 6 to the casing, and the upper end portion of the cas, ing is formed with a thread. 13 for, connection with a reinforcing pipel to holdithe parts more firmly in position. Each compartment is provided with a removable wire screen 14 hearing against shoulders 15 and dividing the inner portion of the compartment from the outer portion for. screening the water discharged from the spray head. The outeriperiphe'ryof the. spray head is radial outwardly and downwardly directed spray apertures 16 through which water is valve seats 22 of ports or openings 23., The V stuffing nuts 18 through which the valve stems also extend form water-tight connections around the stems.
The spray head is preferably adapted for use with the circular type of sanitary washfountain now in ordinary use, and provides a means for turning on and off independent sections of the sprayhead by the person As thus arranged, a number of persons can individually turn the water on or off as desired, without in any manner" interfering with the use of other sections of the fountain by other persons.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that the multiple control sectional spray head isof simple construction, is strong and durable, and is well adapted for the purpose described.
What I claim as my invention is: V
1. A multiple control, sectional spray head, comprising av casing having a plurality of spray apertures and partitions dividing the easing into a number of sections, a removable plate forming the bottom portion of the casing and havingan apwardlyprojecting tubular extension provided with ports opening into the sections, said plate also engaging the lower edge portions oi the partitions, said tubular extension supplyin water tothe sections, and valves controlling said ports and having stems which extend exteriorly of the casing for moving the valves to: open or closed position.
A multiple control sectional spray head, com-prising a casing having a plurality of spray apertures and partitions dividing the easing into a number of sections, said casing having an open bottomportionand an upper portion provided with a radially extending tubular portion for each section, a removable plate forming thebottomportion oi" the easing and having a central npwardly projecting tubular extension provided with ports opening into the sections, said plate also engaging the lower edge portions of the partitions, said tubular extension supplying water'to the sections", tubular extensions connected to the radially extending tubular portions oi the casing, and valves controlling said extension ports and havingstems which extend exterior'ly oi the casing for moving the valves to open or closedposition.
3. A multiple control sectional spray head, comprising a casing having a plurality of spray apertures and partitions dividing the "easing into a number of sections, said casing having an open bottom portion and an upper portion provided with a radially extending tubular portion for'each section, a removable plate forming the bottom portion of the casing, and having a central upwardly projecting tubular extension provided with ports opening intothe sections, said plate also engaging the lower edge portions of the partitions, said tubular extension supplying water to the sections, tubular extenportion extending upwardly into the; casingand having ports opening into the sections, screens positioned between thepartitions and the tubular extension and the apertured portions of the casing, and valves controlr ling said ports. and having stems which extend exteriorly' of the casing for moving the va ves to open or closed position,
A multiple control sectional'spray head,
comprising a casing having a plurality of spray aperturesand partitions dividing the easing into a number of sections, aremovable plate formingthe bottom portion or the casing and having an upwardly projecting tubular extension provided with portsopenin-g intothe sections, said plate also. engaging the lower edge portions of the partitions, said tubular extension supplying water to the sections, screens positioned between the partitions and the tubular xtension and the apertured portions of the casing, and valves controlling said ports and having, stems which extend exteriorlyot'the casing for moving the valves to open or closed position.
6. A multiple control sectional spray head, comprisinga casing having a plurality of spray apertures and partitions dividing the easing into a number 01" sections, a tubular portion positioned within the, casingxand having port-s opening into. the sections,
screens positioned between the partitions and the tubular extension and the apertured portions of the casing, and valves controllingsaid ports and having stems which extend exteriorly of the casing for moving the valves to open or closedposition.
In testimony whereof, 'Iaflix my signature;
LOUIS SCHLESINGER.
