STOPPER FOR IN'IKIBOT'ILLES.
Application filed November 24, 1924, Serial No. 751,876, and. in Great Britain March 13, 1924.
The object of this invention is to provide means whereby self-filling fountain pens may be filled from an ink bottle without soiling the pen and whereby the whole of the ink may be drawn from the bottle.
According to this invention a stopper for an ink bottle has a stem extending into the bottle, a passage extending through the stem and through the stopper and a seating in at is a stopper having a flanged head 5' and a stem 0 which extends into the bottle. The lower portion ofthe stem 0 consists of an India rubber tube 0?. In the passage extending through the head 6 and stem 0 is an elastic washer e which acts as a seating forming an airtight joint with a fountain pen On the outer periphery of the stopper a is a. cork ring 7' whereby an airtight oint is made between thestopper a and the neck 9 of the bottle. In operationthe fountain pen is pressed point downwards into the stopper a forming an airtight joint with the elastic washer e.
The self-filling mechanism of the pen is then worked in the usual manner causing the ink to flow through the tube a? and the stem 0 of the stopper a into the reservoir of the pen in which a vacuum has been formed.
What I claim is 1. A stopper for an ink bottle having a ianged head and a stem extending into the bottle, apassage extending through the stem and head, an elastic washer in the passage near the upper part of the stem and forming a seating adapted to make an air-tight joint with a fountain pen, and an air passagein the head above the upper end of said elastic washer where it is not closed by the fountain pen but may be closed by a cork which closes the main passage.
