In the service for which this device is intcnded,it is usually reljuired, after properly 1' melting the'y metal in he crucible, to pour -nthe same into molds. These molds are usually placed in a row or circle, and the metal poured into them in succession, the c-rucl'ble being moved from one to another. -In perlo forming the operation of pouring; it is necessary Eto control the stream of metal in such a way that not only will the rate of pouring be such as will be best adapted to the size and nature of the mold, but the 2H stream must beproperly controlled so that it will flow into the mold directly and not be spilled over the sides.
