The operating mechanism :for applying the rolls with pressure is as follows:

An ironing machine, comprising a chest having an ironing surface, a series'of` pressure rollers' v(zo-operatingV -with and spaced at intervals along the ironing surface of said chest, means-far causing said rollers to rotate at varying' peripheral speeds, vthe peripheral speed of each succeeding roller being greater than that of the preceding roller, and means for producing'relative ref ciprocation between saidl chest and said pressure rollersalong the line of, movement of the 'work along the chest.
2. An ironing. machine, comprising a chest having a flat ironing surface, a series of pressure rollers 'co-operating with and spaced at intervals along the chest, the diameter of each succeeding roller being greater than that of the preceding roller, and means for producing relative reciprocation between said chest and rollers along the line of movement of the Work along the chest. 3.
