That form of the present invention illustrated in the draWings is designed for use in connection With a hairpin forming machine, in Which a table 1 is utilized, the same being` provided With an aperture 2 for the feeding mechanism about to be described.

Seoured on the shafts 15 adjacent the top of the table 1 are a pair of respective feeding. discs 17 and 18, the peripheral faces of Which cooperate With one anotherA for the purpose lof engaging the Wire 7 and intermittently feeding the same a predetermined length during each operation. In order to aecomplish this the pefipheral faces of both discsare provided With a plurality of annnlar grooves 19 of different size, for selective use in connection With various gauges of Wire.
, `lamping cngagement of the Wire between the faces of the discs 17 and 18 is maintained by means of a bolt 20, the ends of Which are secured to the latcral extensions 14 of the braclrets 3 andl, by means of nut-s 21 threaded on the bolts on opposite sides of the brackets.
Due to the fact that the bracket 11 is rigidly secured to thel table 1, While the bracket 8 is Vpivotally mounted thereon, it is obvious that their desiredV relative position can be maintained by running the nuts 21 in or out upon the bolt 20. By this arrangement considerable tension can be exerted upon the Wire gripped between the faces of the discs 17 and 18, thus insuring positive feed during the feeding operation ofthe discs. i
In order to obtain an intermittent feed essential in a hairpin forming machine Where squarely against the inner 01' bottom Wall of the said socket. The operator then uses a hammel', strkng the outef plug in the dil'ecton of the length of the axle whereby the Wheel is jarred loose from the a-Xle and the key thereo and may be quckly l'emoved.
