' In assembling the device the blades are placed in position substantially parallel with the rod 15 and the extensions 21 are inserted in the recesses 11. Then the rod 13 is screwed into the body 10 to the position shown in Figure 1, and when in this posi tion the deviee is ready for shipment and use.
In the use of o-nr devise the operator first forms a round opening by looring or otherwise, in the ground. The diameter of the opening need not be any greater than the diameter of the folded anchoring device. Then the anchoring device is placed in position near the bottom of the opening and the points of the anchor blades are made to engage the earth at the sides of the opening. Then the operator takes a crowbar or the like and extends it through the eye in the upper end of the rod 13 and imparts a rotary movement to the rod.
