REFRIGERATING APPARATUS.
Application filed March ZS, 1924, Serial No. 701,756, and in France November 24, 1923.
This invention relates to improvements in refrigerating apparatus of that character known as the reversing absorption type.-
and it has for its primary object toprovide a very simple, easilyoperated, and inerpensive construction such that it may be readily adapted for domestic purposes.
l/Vith these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings and specifically describing the inv'entiomA designates a stillabsorber or generator and G a condenser. the specific construction of which latter need not be given as it forms the subject matter of a companion application constituting a division hereof. The generator and condenser just referred to are connected together by an inverted substantially V-shaped conduit RC which is suitably'braced by means of the brace member E. The retur section R of this conduit extends into the generator chamber and terminates adjacent the bottom thereof as indicatedvat R.
Extending upwardly from the dome or upper portion of the generator chamber is a gas outlet pipe t which communicates with the conduit RC at the apex of the same. It will be observed that the outlet pipe t projects to a slightextent into the conduit R-C, as indicated at d, the object of the inward extensions being to prevent the passage into the outlet pipe of the liquefied gases during the operation of the'apparatus. The outlet pipe t is provided with a ball valve S, and within the said outlet pipe is suspended a bafile device a constituting a dehydrator in the functionin of the apparatus. This baflfle device inc udes a series of bafile members b spaced from each other, the lower baflle element being disposed adjacent to the ball valve S hereinbefore referred to and constituting a stop for said ball when the latter is thrown from its seat during the the outlet pipe it into the inverted V-shaped v conduit RC, where it descends the branch C to the condenser G. In the latter the gas is liquefied in the usual well known manner. In the subsequent phase of operation the gas is ire-vaporized and passes by way of the branches C and It back'to the generator A. where it is absorbed.
In the movement of the gas from the boileror generator A through the outlet pipe (I the water content thereof impinges upon the bafie elements b which are arranged in staggered relation preferably and thereafter trickles downwardly to'the base of the outlet pipe from where it returns to the generator chamber A during those moments'of time when the ball valve is displaced from the valve seat. It will thus be seen that the gas reaches the condenser G in substantially dry form. When in the .use of the apparatus the liquefied gas collects in the condenser G it is possible to return it to the generator by laying the apparatus upon its side so that it will rest upon the laterally projecting lugs 0, this position causing the liquid to pass by way of the conduit B-C into. the generator A.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that a simple apparatus is provided, the capacity of which is determined by the size of the construction, substantially speaking.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 2. In refrigerating apparatus of the class described, the combination of a generator, a condenser, a gas conduit extending from the condenser to the generator and into the latter to a point adjacent the base thereof, a gas outlet pipe extending vertically from the dome of the generator and communicating with the gas conduit aforesaid, a bafile device arranged in said outlet pipe and com- 10 prising a'support mounted upon the gas conduit, and a series of bafile members arranged in spaced relation on said support, valve means in said outlet pipe, and means projecting from the generator constituting supporting rests for sustaining the refrigerating apparatus on its side during dis placement of liquefied gas from the condenser.
