`FOLDING MOHINR.
A.application mea December This invention plertainsto pressing and .folding machines' of that class employed 1n the commercial production of collars, relatingV particularly to means for accurately mortise-locking the points and 'evenly turning the edges to secure smooth yand unywrinkled seams.
It is very important forming a` mo'rtise f, lock thatthe primary fold be made 1n exact relation to the main or secondaryv folds;
otherwise imperfect points will result. V.Heretofore the primary'fold has been madedl- .rectly with the'fingers orl With a device carried in the fingers of the operator. Ob-v viously with. this method accuracy in form-I ing the primary fold is dependentfwholly upon the individual skill of the operators and inevitably cannot -be precise even though the operators be .most skilled.
- The objects'of th'pre'sent invention are to providejmeans vwhereby in forming mor-v tise locks on the ends of collars the primary `fold Will at all times be made ina predeterfout of rangev of the dieV When released; to provide a movable claW having al heat insu- `llated surface to protect the fingers Yof the operator; to provide a clavv attached'to andVA mined relationfto the main folds to provide a movableclaW Whichautomatically moves made a part of the folder plate for accuratelyfoldingf the'collar; and to` provide 'a device Wliicli `Will be simple'in construction and efficient in operation. y A .v v
In, order to fold collar blanks accurately I have devised the present improvement for.l attachment tothe folding plates to assurey lcorrect turning ofthe primary' fold, VThis improved means comprises Yabutine'nts fo-rV holding :the blanky on the bed plate andV table in correct position and means on the foldingV plates for accurately turning the primary fold in the collar preliminary to the actuation of the die and folder plates. .y v y V One embodimentfor carrying this kinvention into effect is shovvnin' the accompany-L' ping. drawings in which,-
