ORNAMENT.
Application filed June 6, 1925. Serial No. 35,318.
This invention relates to ornaments for hanging upon the wall of a dwelling, and its principal object is to provide an ornament embodying a frame to which a panel is secured and the latter having a scene painted thereon, together with a figure in the form of a wellknown bird.
The invention also contemplates an ornament of this character wherein the backing or panel serves as part of a casing for retaining the figure and at the same time as a picture or scene carrying surface.
With the preceding and other objects and advantages in mind, the invention consists in the novel combination of elements, construction, arrangementof parts and operations to be hereinafter specifically referred to, claimed and illustrated in the aecompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is an elevation of the ornament.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional View of the same.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein corresponding characters of reference denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 designates a picture frame which is recessed upon the inner edge of the rear face as at 6 to receive the edges of a rectangular sheet of glass 10. Arranged at the rear of the frame 5 and extending across the same is a concavo-convex panel 11 provided with diagonal flanges 12 which are secured to the frame 5 by fastenings 18, and as shown in Figure l, the outer edge of the flanges terminate with the outer edge of the frame. A mat 1% is interposed between the edges of the glass 10 and the flanges 12. It is pointed out that the panel 11 is formed from any suitable material which may be painted upon its inner face to provide a scene as shown in Figure 1.
Disposed in relief with respect to the picture or scene there is a figure molded from. any suitable material and indicated at 15. In the present instance this figure is in the form of a pheasant and is arranged between the glass 10 and panel 11 and secured to the latter by means of a fastening element 16.
From the disclosure it will be seen that we have provided a neat and attractive ornament that can be readily hung from the walls of a dwelling as a picture.
While we have shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, We desire to have it understood that such changes may be made in the form, construction, arrangement of parts and operations, as will not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
What is claimed is An ornament of the character described comprising a frame provided with a recess extending about the inner edge of its rear face, a rectangular sheet of glass extending across the frame and having its edges received in the recess, an elongated concavo convex panel arranged at the rear of the frame, a marginal flange formed on said panel and secured to the rear face of the frame and terminating with the outer edge thereof, a mat disposed between the flange and the edge of the sheet of glass in the recess, the inner face of the panel having a picture thereon, and a molded figure standing in relief with respect to said picture and secured to the inner face of the panel.
In testimony whereof we aiiix our signatures.
