This invention relates ,particularly .to a method of building' construction.
An object" of ,the invention is kto provide a rapid and yeconomical process for ,construct ing reinforced Aconcrete floors lformed 1ntegrally with concrete T beams.
A further vobject of the invention is to provide collapsible .forms adapted t be ,@011- nected together in operative position von a false work ceiling and a suitable monolithic mass poured into lthe forms and between the formsbto form an integral ceiling;` and ",l beams, the said Aforms being' so arranged that after the monolithic mass has hardened, they may be removed.
A still further object o f the invention is to provide adjustable clamps for holding` the forms of rows of concrete molds together to permit adjusting movement of Athe rows of forms relative to each other.
In this specification and the lannexed drawings, the invention is illustrated in the formf considered to be the best, but it is to be understood that the invention is not limr ited to such form, because it mayy be embodied in other forms, and it is also to be understood that in andby the claims following the description, it is desired to cover the invention in whatsoever form it may be embodied. n

The metal forms, used in accordance with my invention, consist of complementary right and left plates 1, bentso that one end of yeach plate will lie at an angle to the ,opposite l,endof the same plate. The plates l 'are preferably arranged side by side in parallel .rows and `the ,horizontal ends of right and Ileft plates of .different rows clamped together by ,meansof clamping' bars .2 and 3, engaging' the plate ends kon the upper and lower faces thereof. The clamp bars 2 ,and .3 are held ttrqether by means of .a slotted Abolt 4, having); a .wedge pin 5 .extendinn` therethrough, for the'purpose of drawing; the plates 2 and 3 togethe'nand hence rigidly ,clamping the ends of the plates l. The wedge tigrhtener 5 is a simple form .of device .for drawing;` the lclampintrbars ,2 and 3 together, although it would be clearly within the purview of the invention to ntiliyie any equivalent Vform of .tightening apparatus.
The right and left plates in adjacent rows are spaced relative to each other by tirhtening or loosening the'wedgepin 5 Von the clamp bars 2 and 3. Thus the rightand left halves of adjacent forms may be joined. torether in advance of the actual use thereof. The plates l are shaped as forms in which the T beams to .carry the loads are molded. The strength of the beams is calculated to carry the loads necessary, but the size of the Said beams can be easily modified by regulatine' the clamping:` bars 2 and 3 to increase or diminish the space rbetween the opposite halves of the same form. 'The clamping bar arrangement also permits the edu al spac- .inev of a number ofthe T beam forms over a prescribed area by spreading1 apart, or drawing together the beam forms, thus increasing or diminishing' the space between rows Vof beam forms. The ends 'of the top clampbar 3 are bent at right angles upwardly, to serve as a support .for the wood strips 1l, to be hereinafter described in detail.
For the construction of a ceiling' and beams in accordance with .my invention, I first provide a falsework ceiling 6, on which I place a metallic screening 8 which will serve to reinforce concrete poured thereon. ln order to pour the vconcrete into the ceiling andk beams in a single operation, I place a plurality of metal supports or chairs 7 on the ceiling 6. TheA ends of the supports 7 are of a 'width which.v corresponds to the Y space between the breadth of the base of the beams'to be formed. The form plates l are rested in a vertical position on the supports 7 the said supports spacing the bottom edges of the form plates l away from the false work ceiling a distance corresponding to the depth or thickness of the concrete ceiling to be formed. Each T beam form consists of a right and left plate l, spaced apart a predetermined distance on the supports 7. The T beam forms are arranged in rows and the horizontal ends of right and left forms' of yadjacent beam rows are connected together by the clamping bars 2 and 3. In order to reinforce thebeams a pair of reinforcing bars. 9 are arranged in spaced relation on t-he screening 8 within the form plates l and are bound together by means of the steel wires l0, the ends of which are bent parallel to the vertical plane of the bars 9, giving to the bars 9 and wireslO a T form vsubstantially the same as that of the beams to be molded. After the various rows of beam forms have been connected together, and arranged in the manner set forth,y a plastic mixture of concrete would be poured ythrough the clamping bars 2 and 3 connect-- ing the horizontal right'and left halves of adjacent parallel' forms, toform a concrete layer of predetermined thickness. Directly after the layer of concrete lis poured into the space between the beam forms, the concrete would be poured into the beam forms'and in and around the reinforcing therein. The concrete Vwould be prevented from escaping outwardly at the bottom of the sides of the forms on account of the space-therein existing having previously been filled by the first poured mixture of concrete. 'In order to fill the beam forms with concrete to any desired height I place wooden joists 11,l of the height required, along the horizontal right and left halves of each form plate resting said joists against the bent ends of the upper clamp bar 3. vAfter the poured concrete has hardened sufficiently the clampbars 2 and 3 w-ould be unloosened, permitting the right and left form plates lto be lifted away from eachconcrete beam and withdrawn therefrom outwardly through the parallel concrete beams. The plates may then be re-assembled vand used for future molding operations. The metallic lsupports 7 on which theform plates l rest, preliminarily to pouring, remain einbedded in the concrete after it has set. In order to form a flooring on theconcrete beains,fI enclose the space between the 'horizontal faces of the rows of concrete beams by pre-cast concrete slabs 14,'after Awhich the upper edges ofthe beams and the interposed slabs would be covered with plastic material l5 to form a floor finish.v :If a'wood-oor is desired the wood joists l1 would be attached integrally to the concrete forms during the Y connecting the pouring operation, so that after the beams have hardened the joists would be rigidly secured thereto. A covering of insulating felt 12 is placed over the upper faces of the concrete beams and over lsaid felt the iioor 13 is laid. It is tobe noticed that the hollow space between the T beams constitutes an air cushion'which forms aninsulator for heat in summer and the cold in winter, and atwthe same time furnishes an adequate nonconductor of sounds. The free spaces between the various beamscanbe utilized for concealing pipes 16 or for carrying electric wire conduits or said spaces can vbe filled with insulating material to decrease the conductibility of sounds,` and heat in the said building. g

An apparatus for forming concrete beams, comprising a plurality of rowsvof complementary plates shaped to form beams of the 'desired contour; adjustable clamps adjacent plates of opposite beam rows, to permit the connected plates to be moved relatively toward or from each other; and means to hold ends of the plates in spaced relation.
