F. BONAVENTURA SIEVE Filed July 2. l924 Fra'mwm Bana'venZu/"a Patented Aug. 31, 1926.
FRANCISCO BONAVENTURA, OF ROSARIO, ARGENTINA.
' SIEVE.
Application filed July 2, 1924, Serial No. 723,792, and in Argentina October 9, 1923.
My present invention relates to certain improvements in rotary sieves its mam object being to provide means by which the separation of the wires may be regulated at will within certain limits.
In order that any present invention be clearly understood and easily carried into practice a preferred embodiment thereof has been shown in the appended drawings wherein.
Figure 1 is an end view of the sieve.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section thereof.
Figure 3 is a view of the sieve from the end opposite to Figure 1.
Figures 4 and 5 are respectively longitudinal and end views of one of the wires by which the sieve is formed.
Figures 6 and 7 show in section and front views respectively and in an enlarged scale the means for regulating the separation between the wires.
Similar characters of reference denote same or like parts throughout the said figures.
The sieves according to my present invention consist of two head pieces 1 and 2 through which a number of wires 3 are passed. Said wires are elongated in crosssection and have one of their ends bent as shown in Fig. 4. The free end of the bent portion is passed through a corresponding orifice of a disc 5 which is mounted on the axle 6 of the sieve. ,Said disc 5 may be partially rotated with respect of the head pieces 1 and 2 thereby changing the inclination of the axis of each individual wire with respect of the axis of the drum. The section of the wire being elongated as shown in Fig. 5 it is obvious that by changing the position of said wire the free space between the wires will be changed and a perfect regulation thereby obtained. By means of a nut or the like 7 the outer rotary disc 5 may be fixed at any suitable position.
By the above means a sieve may be obtained which is suitable for selecting any given size of grain.
It is obvious that many constructional and other changes may be introduced without departing from the scope of my present invention which has been clearly set forth in the appended claiming clause.
Having now fully described and ascertained the nature of my present invention and in what manner the same is to be carried into practice, I declare that what I claim is A rotary sieve for grain and the like comprising an axle; a pair of head pieces mounted on said axle; a plurality of wires rotatably mounted in said head pieces having a bent portion at one end and being elongated in cross section throughout its length; a disk associated with one of said head pieces and having openings therein in which the bent portions of the wires project; and means for securing the disk against its head piece in order to lock the wires in any desired position depending upon the space required between adjacent wires.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature,
FRANCISCO BONAVENTURA.
