EQUIPMENT COMPANY, F LA GROSSE, WISCONSIN, .A CORPORATION OF WIS- CONSIN.

Application led July 31,' 1925. Serial No. 47,290.
This invention relates to an emblem cap device-for the`top of a radiator for auto-- mobiles and similar articles.
y The purpose of the invention is to so ar- 5 range thev emblem cap that it will be retained upon the radiator in the proper position to make the emblem appear most prominently 4and suit-ably. In the use of emblem devices trouble has been experienced in maintaining the emblem in the proper position to make it effective foru the purpose intended and this has been duein part to bl Ithe fact that the screw threads of the cap and `the neck of the radiator become worn and therefore, the emblem, when screwed tightly, upon the neck of the radiator, does not .lie in proper position to give the attractive effect intended; ,for it is often out of line with the front of the radiator.. Moreover, after'the threads become worr the vibration of the vehicle will cause the emblem cap tobe turned out ofl perfect alignment with the front of the radiator, so as to `impair' its. attractiveness. lThis improvementl is adapted to make the lemblem cap it properly on the neck of the radiator v and whenever the cap isturned to the proper position it will then be held in that osition 'by a contact .bet'ween the cap and t e neck of the radiator. A
Referring to the drawings:

radiatorfneck and associated parts in section.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view' on the lines 2-2 of Fig..1. 4 Fig. .3 is a side view of the cap with the emblem secured thereto. y
.Referring to Fig. 1, the emblem is designated by 1 and this' emblem is secured to v. the top of the cap 2 in the manner shown. The j pterior of the cap is1 screw threaded at 3 m the usual manner as indicated in Fi s. lfand 2 and the neck of the radiator 4 as the usual external screw. threads-as indicated in'5. The-.interior Iof thek cap is formed with an annular recess or seat 6y and with an 8 is placed within the cap and confined l be- 50. tween the seat 6 and a circular plate 9, which plate is held within the interior of v the ca by the head of a screw 10 with the threadped end of the screw 10 screwed into the top of the emblem cap, as indicated.l in Figs. 1 andw2. The parts are so adjusted annular shoulder 7. A coil spring.
