Another object is to provide a battle wall block .or tile having semi-circular cut-outs at opposite edges adapted to-embrace the water tubes of the boiler for the purpose of forniinga complete ibaffie wall .with a plurality of such blocks, the said semicircular edges of each block being lined .or coated with a fusible substance such as pitch, tar or-wax, to the end that after the baiile wal-l'is completed, theheat within the boiler may fuse and melt away the said fusible lining, leaving slight clearance spaces between the edges of the blocks and the water tubes, the said clearance spaces serving to facilitate the removal and replacement of the water tubes without damaging the said baflle wall.
- Another object is to provide a battle wall block or tile having two opposite edges thereof beveled off at opposite faces of the block, so that when a plurality of such blocks are assembled for completing a bailie wall transversely of. the water tubes of a boiler, the said blocks will overlap one another vertically, in a shingle-like relation, to the end that by building two such walls in parallel spaced relation, with the laps of the blocks directed inwardly from top to bottom, a plastic clay or other viscous material may be filled in between the two walls from the top, for the purpose of completing a continuous solid structure, without danger of the plastic filler working out laterally between the blocks, and water tubes of the boiler.
