WATCEBRACELET ann HOOK.
Application filed March 17, y1928. Serial No. 95.367.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in watch bracelet end hooks, and the priinary object thereof is to provide a sinigliiied forni or" hook et this type which can be easily and quickly assembled and consequently more econoniically produced.
'She invention further aiins to provide a hook of thisl character which can be easily and quickly operated and which is positive in its holding action.
ln the drawings:
Figure l is a bottoni plan view et the invention,
Figure 2 l and Figure 3 is a similar view on line 3 3 of Fig. l. i
ln proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a inain casingl is employed which is inade of a blankthat has a body l. torined at one end with a hook 2 and at its opposite end with an end wing 3, the sides o t the body beingl formed with side wings Ll.
The latch structure is provided for holding the usual bail L oit the watch in the hook.` and which comprises acasing formed of a. blank having a body v5, which like the casing, has an end hook 6 an end wing 7 and side wings 8.
The latch consists of a block of inetal 9 having' a nose 10 at one end to engage the watch bail and having` an opening 1l at its opposite to receive a coil spring` l2. Y
ln assembly the latchV is placed inits casing the end wing 7 being` bent to engagel the coil spring and the side Ywings 8 being bent over to engage the latch sides so as to provide guides wherein the latch inay slide. The latch casing thus assembled is then placed in the main casing, whereupon the hook of the latter is bent about the hook ot the latch casing,` and the wings of the main casing are bent over onto the respecis a section on line 2%2 of Fig.
tive wings of the latch casing. The parts are thus united without the use of solder and due to theV tact that the structure is termed of two nested casings a double wall thickness is provided which has increased strength accordingly.
Having.;` thns described my invention what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letljatent is :w- In a hook of the type set forth, a inain j' having a hook at one end and a wing its opposite end andhaving side wings, z lat-ch structure having a casing` formed with a hook at one end, and a wing at its opposite end and having` side wings, a latch block having a nose at one end and having an opening' at its opposite end, and a coil spring' in the opening, the side wings of the latch casing being bent over to engage the bloclrso as to slidably guide saine and the end wing being` engaged with the spring, the latch easing being nested in the main casing and the hook and wings `ofthe latter being` bent to engage over the respective hoolrand wings of the latch casing thereby to secure the letter within the 'main casinn. Y I l 2. ln a hook oi the type set forth, a niain casing having' al hook at one end and a wing` at its opposite end and having side wings, a latch structure havingl a casing formed with a hook at one end and a wing at its opposite end andhavinf.;` sidevwings, a spring pressed latch in the latchjcasing, the sideV wings of the latch casing being bent to engage over the latch to slidably engage saine, the end wing` of the latch casing being engaged with the spring, the latch casing beingl nested in the niain casing and the wings and'hoolroi1 the latter being bent to engage the respective wings and hook oit the latch casing.
In testimonyk whereof I have signed iny` naine to this specifica-tion. y
l vFREDRICK W. NITTEL.
