This invention relates to com nsating devices for oil pump counters o the neral pe shown in Letters Patent of the nited States, Nos. 1,524,601, 1,524,602 and 1,524,607
27, 1925, and more particularly to com nsatin devices shown in Letters Patent of the nited States No. 1,531,823,-dated March 31, 1925, 'in'which compensation is secured through the adjust ment of the fulcrum of one of twooscillating levers, -one of which is actuated with the pum while the otherfis actuated b the first livery of oilor other and is in operative relation with t e unting mechanism or registerby which t deiquid is registered. 'In the embodiment of the -presentfiinvention there are also two oscillating levers, one of. which is actuated with the pump while-theother is inoperative relation with the'count-' ing mechamsm or. register but provision is cillatin which the register is connected or by reason I & Figure 3 is a detail Fi rel is'aviewin a re ster with the compensating devices aponft made in the connectionzbetweenthe two oslevers whereby, through adjust ment, t e compensation required by reason of inaccuracies in the. particular pump with of". variations in the delivery of the pump due toother causes, is efiected. The invention will be described more fullyhereinafter with reference to, the accom any ing drawing in which it is illustrat and in which:- V
front elevation of 1i "thereto the register dial and in partly broken away. to save space an the ial itself being broken ofi' topermit'th compensatin devices tobe shown. '1 F1 re 2 IS a view in sectional elevation e glans indicated by the broken line 22of' igureLctionfon the lane-indicated by the brokenline-3--3of igure 1.
'Figure 4: is adetail view illustrating'a detai of the connection between the oscil- In the'embodimentof the invention illus-i- .trated', the dial a, pointer a ,the'pointer sup-q adjusted to suit the partic pum porting shaft a'fand thet0talizm'g countew which i x a, .to%ether with other hereinafter men tion are supported suitablecasing by The. pointer wand the totalizing register a casing b The se 'is' otted longitudinally,
the connectionof the link 0 therewith to be 'phng h the .view in horizontal sec a moving part of the pump mechanism, not
necessary to be shown, theshaft 0 receiving a. rotary oscillating movement. The shaft I c carries a gear 0 which meshes with a gear se ent or toothed oscillating lever 41 pivota y mounted on a stud d supported'by the ment (1 has an. arm d whichis connects at its end by a link d with an intermediate-lever d"pivotally;supported on a stud 'd. The lever d: is also connected by a link 0 with an arm e of a gearsegment or toothed oscillating lever e, which may be mounted on the stud d, which sup rts the similar segment-d. The arm a as at e, to permit adjusted, a suitable clampin nut ,e bcin provided to secure the connection in adjuste position. 7
The segment at enga a r i h i fixed. on the supporting shagiz, the latter being mounted m a sleeve bearing "a which is supported b the framea. The shafta' has secured t ereon one member g of aclutch, preferably a ball clutch, the other "member. 9 of which is frictionally engaged with the, inter a, through the pressure of the spring plate g. A retaining clutch g is mounted on a sleeve bearing a to prevent The c utch member 9 may alsorbe enter afi s throug gears gand h and cow.
Itv now be understoodthat when rota oscillating movement is imparted to latedand, throu h the link 12', lever d and 7 link e, will osc' ate the r ent 0'- through anangle of oscillation who can I varied with respect to the angle of 6901119,
'tion of the gear segment d, through adjust ment of the connection at efle between the two segmentsysg ,asto compensate, as be required, for the inaccuracies of the mother conditions, the comupzrnsation the register is used thro ad- 'ustment of such connection as in ughthe connection from the gear mente'to the registering or count1ngm anism the operation of the latter will like wisebemodi fiedsoastoeompensate,aamay;
backward movement of the clutch member aft 2,1118 gear segment 6 will be oscilbe re uired, for the inaccuracies of the pump or 0t er conditions which make such compensation desirable.
I claim as my invention l. The combination of a counting mechanism for a pump, a rotary oscillating gear actuated with the pump, an oscillating gear segment engaged with the gear, a second oscillating gear segment in operative relation with the counting mechanism, and adjustable connections between said gear se ments whereby the second gear segment 15 oscillated by the first gear segment and the angular movement of the second gear segment may be varied with respect to the angular movement of the first gear segment.
2. The combination of a counting mechanismior a-pump, a rotary oscillating gear actuated with the pump, an oscillating gear segment engaged with the gear, a second oscillating gear segment in operative relation with the counting mechanism, an intermediate lever, and separate link'connections from the intermediate lever to the segments,
the connection of the link to one of the segments being adjustable to vary the angular movement of one segment with respect to the angular movement of the other segment. This specification signed this 2nd day of June A. D. 1925.
