Description

UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
CHESTER JOSEPH SNOW, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.

To all ivhom it may concern Be it known that I, CHESTER J o'snPI-I SNOW,
. Figure l is a sectional elevation cut through S B. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same.
C is a bed-plate with a central hub, on which the top plate, A, swivels or turns. This bedplate is secured to the top of the meeting-rail of the lower sash. "-H H are grooves diverging from the center. -There are also corresponding projections on the under surface of the top plate, A, that drop into the aforesaid grooves when the top plate is turned into position, and it is held there by the spring E, thus preventing shifting from the outside of the Window by the use of a.knife. Bis aplate with a slot in it to receive the lip or projection I, that is on one edge of the top plate, A. The said plate B is placed on the stile of the upper sash at any point to suit convenience, and it must be secured in line with the plates of the lower sash, so that both upper and lower sash will be locked at the same time. One edge of the plate B is made rounding, so that it may be forced against the upper sash when desired to prevent both upper and lower sash from rattling. The corner under the lip I is rounding for the same purpose.
I claim as my invention The bed-plate C, with its divergent grooves H H, in combination with the turn-button A, with corresponding projections on the under side, the coil-spring arranged in a projecting tube upon the same, and the lip I, that slips into the slot of the upper sash-plate, all as shown and described.
