This invention relates to improvements in attachments for rivetinghammers and more particularly to an improved coupling means for attaching a riveting hammer, or rivet buster to the holder thereof. 7
The primary object of the inventionis to provide an improved means for holding the rivet set in position in the holder in. a manner that will permit the rivet set to be quickly released when desired, but which will firmly maintain the rivet set in position while it it is in use, and prevent the operator thereof from being injured.
Another object of the invention is to provide a deviceof this character which may be easily manipulated to permit the hammer to be removed from the holder when desired. g
Other objects of the invention will appear upon consideration of the following detail description and accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through the device constructed in accordance with my invention, showing a riveting hammer mounted in operative position. I

Referring to the drawing byv numerals,
the body 1 of the hammer is provided with a cylindrical end as shown having a central longitudinal bore 2 which is adapted to receive the tool 3 comprising the shank 4t and head 5. The bore is adapted to snugly fit the shank 4 but in a manner so that the latter may be moved into and outot' engagement therewith when the tool is ,arranged in or out of position, as the case may The shank 4 is provided withdiametriof the body l after taken on opposite sides with longitudinally cally opposite slots adapted to receive lock ing pawls 7 which are equipped with lugs 8 adapted to fit slots 6 formed in the shank a when itisthrust into the bore 2. By giving a quarter turn to the sleeve 1O as indicated in Figs. 4 and'5 of the drawing I the pawls will be readily released or gaged as desired for releasing or retaining the tool in position inthe holder. In this manner any interchange of different types of tools may be made and the latter will be effectively held in operative position while the implement is in use.
