after being amplified in a well known manner by tubes 3 and 4 is impressed upon the circuit containing receiver 8, thus causing the receiver to reproduce the sound with sufficient strength for it to be clearly heard by one partially deaf. The primary of transformer 7 is shunted by a variable resistance 9 which can be adjusted to regulate the voltage applied to the amplifiers and hence regulate the volume of the sound the receiver, to a value which is comfortable for the user.
The entire. apparatus with the exception of the transmitter and receiver is arranged in a case 10 which may be placed in the pocket of one using the invention.
