This invention relates to that class of burners, included in the general art of oil burners, which, essentially, is intended for the generation and consumption of kerosenethat product from crude petroleum which abounds only in several of the lighter hydrocarbons, and this statement is here made, so that a clearer and more definite understanding of the invention may be had.
The invention is so clothed in such convenient mechanical form that both pregeneration and generation proper will so be had that proper. combustion will so be had as to substantially eliminate, the carbon deposit, common in burners of 'this'class in the art, and additionally, because of this consumption and dissipation of carbon, give out a more intense efiicienoy.
Other objects of the invention, will, of course, appear from a more complete reading of the specification appended to the sheet of drawings, accompanying and forming part of the same.

In these several views, similar characters of reference will'indicate similar parts.
For suitable disposition, for use, a plate 5 is provided with flanges 6, and 7, the latter flange encirclingan air opening 8, and these flanges form an oil trough 9 into which oil is run for ignition preparatory to use of the burner, for purposes later to appear.
An intermediately disposed or located flanged-dome 10 with its flange 11 is sup ported over the opening 8 by a plurality of legs 12, preferably four in number, much like the supporting of a table and is adapted, because of said construction, to be moved axially about the internal flange 7, by a thumb-piece 13. The flange 11 on its upper face is provided with substantially equidistantly disposed ribs 14:.
Superimposed upon this intermediate dome is a secondary flanged dome 15 the flange 16 whereof by a depending edge 19 overhangs the flange 11 as more clearly seen in Figure 2, and rests upon the upper edges of the ribs let, but at points onthe under side thereof which have been formed into cam faces 18 (see Figure 3). thumb piece 13 is moved in either direction, axially, so as to likewise move the intermediate dome and flange, 10 and 11, respectively, the ribs 1 1- will ride the cam faces 18 and thus will result in moving vertically the outer or superimposed dome and flange 15 and 16, because the feet or legs 12 are moving about a given plane.
The opening 17 of the shoulder 20 on the upper side of the super-dome 15'is drilled and threaded for one quarter inch iron pipe, preferably a street L 21, connected with pipe 22, again connected with elbow s3, thence to pipe 24, with sleeve attached at lower end which rests over an opening in lip 26 formed, preferably as an integral casting with the plate 5 supporting the trough 9. This sleeve is held in place by a feed'line passing up thru opening in lip '26 and connecting with'lower sleeve opening,
which is made fast with nut 27 or the arrangements may be other than that set forth, and, of any suitable kind. Thestructure of piping thus set forth constitutes a generator, for the pro-breaking up of the kerosene preparatory to the further disintegration of its constituents, before combustion, and which is done, after per-generation, in and along the space 28 formed between the inner and the outer domes, aforesaid.
At the inner edge of the outer flange apron 19,'and the outer edge of the flange 11, there is a circumferential space or burner opening 29, out from which the flame flares after generation of the kerosene into a gas. Here, it is to be understood,that if the thumbpiece 13 is moved, this will move the part to which it is attached, which will increase or lessen the space 28 between the domes to the extent of the ribs riding the. face of the came 18, and consequently govern the generation of gas, to correspond to the consumption thereof so that not only will there not be a waste of heat units, but there will not be a waste of fuel as well.
The domes 10 and 15 respectively are so formedsubstantially semi-hemispherical as to give a substantial generation area to the incoming fuell :erosenefrom the generator formed by the aforedescribed pipes.
When the As to the modus operandi: The trough 9 is filled with kerosene, ignited, and allowed to heat the lines 22 and 24 and elbows 21 and :23. Through this line from a proper regulated feed, (not shown) kerosene is admitted, and upon reaching the pre-generation point in the lines 22 and 24:, and elbows 21 and 23, is partially cracked'or disintegrated for instant gasiflcation, substaniially upon reaching the space between the domes 10 and 15, which likewise have been heated to an intensity by the flame from kerosene ignited in trough 9.
As this partially disintegrated fuel spreads over the area of the inner dome 10 the gasification takes place immediately, and pressure is therefore present to drive it to and out from the circumferential burner opening 29 into a radiating flame, controllable, of course, in the usual and suitable manner. It is within the purview of this invention to lessen the area of the domes 10 and 15, if desired for a lesser generation space, or the same may be increased, at will, which may be done by changing the shape of said domes.
It will now be observed that a simple, yet effective kerosene burner, with generation, and pre-generation efliciencies of an adjustable order are provided, and that simple yet efficient means for adjusting the device are within the comprehension of the invention,
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent,
1. A burner comprising a plate having a centrally disposed opening and upstanding inner and outer concentric flanges forming a trough, a flanged dome having legs adapted to rest in and move about the trough, ribs formed upon the upper side of said flange of said dome, a second dome superimposed upon the ribs of said flange and forming a circumferential burner opening between said dome and said flange, a generator entering the superdome and adapted to be heated by the flame of the burner and by pre-ignition from the flame in the trough, and means for axially moving the domes relatively so that one will raise from the other to increase the space between said domes.
2. A burner comprising a plate having a central opening and an upstanding flange thereabout; a flange upstanding and concentric with the first named flange and forming a trough; a flanged dome having legs adapted to rest in and be moved about the trough, ribs formed on the upper side of said flange of said dome, a second doine having a flange and superimposed upon the ribs of said first named flange, cam faces carried to the underside of the flange of the second superimposed dome and co-operating with said ribs, means to move the dome with relation to the other to let the ribs aforesaid ride the cam faces to adjust the space between the domes, a generator entering the super-dome, and adapted to be preheated by the flame isssuing from the burner opening.
8. In a burner, the combination with a plate having an opening and forming a liquid fuel trough; of a dome, and a superimposed dome relative associated, means to shift one dome relatively to the other to vary the size of the space between the domes, and a generator associated with the upper dome.
4i. In a burner, the combination with a plate having an opening and about the edge whereof is a trough, of a dome, a supernnposed dome associated therewith, means to shift one dome relatively to the other for controlling the amount of fuel consumed and thereby the size of the flame and amount of heat generated, a generator associated with one of the domes, a feed line to said generator, and means associated with said plate for holding the feed line.
