' My invention relates to electrical fixtures, 1 and more particularly to an electrical 'fixture having a bell portion to which cap members of sockets may be secured, and to the particular means of securing such a cap member to a bell member or other similar apertured member in a fixture of this character so as to permanently and rigidly secure said members together in a simple and efficient mannerand at a small cost." It is a further purpose of the invention to provide means for securing a cap -member' to a bell-like portion ofan electrical fixture,
whereby the means for clamping said parts together also prevents relative rotation thereof, and to provide a fimshing sleeve ing is held in the cap, as well as the securing means is concealed.
vention will appear as the description of the accompanying draw ngs proceeds. However, Idesire to have it distinctly under stood that I do not intend to limit myself to the exact details shown-or described, but 'thatl intend to include as part of my invention all suchobvious changes and modifications of parts as would occur to a person skilled in this art, and as would fall withr in the scope of the claims.

Fig. 1 is a side elevation partly in section of my improved electrical fixture showing the cap secured in position; 7
Fig. 2 is a view looking into the open end of the cap in Fig.1, said cap being shown with the insulating lining removed;
Fig. 3 is a section taken on the line 3.3
of Fig. 2; and I Fig. 4.is a View in fragmentary section showing the parts of'the device'as separated to more clearly show the construction of the various parts thereof.
Referring in detail to the 'drawings,.in" Fig.1 is shown a bell portion or s'imilarpor tion of'an'electrical fixture 10, which may be providedwith a cap 11 held thereon in any suitable manner. Said bell portion 10 is provided with openings 12, and cap mem bers '13 for the ordinary lamp socket are secured to said bell portion 10 with the openings 14 in said cap member in alignment with the openings 12. New and improved means is provided for securing the cap memon the member 13.
As will be clearfromFlg. 2, the prongs i Other objects'and advantages of the ina ELECTRICAL FI TURE l Application filed May 31,1923; se1 1a1n bers 13 tothe bell portion 1O; said means comprising prongs or tongues 15 on said member 10, and slmilar 16 are so formed that'the cuts at the sides thereof extend inwardly beyondthe circular edge portion bounding the opening 14:, thus forming. notches17. The prongs j15 are formed in a similarmanner onthe member 10, the notches in the member 10 being indicated at 18 in Fig. 3.
It will'be seen upon're ference to Fig. 3 7 that the prongs 15 extend over the prongs? .16 when bent into position, and that due to the notches 17. and 18' said'prongs 15 and portions of the material oft-he member. 10 will be located in the notches 17, thus not only holding the cap members 13 in posiprongs or tongues 16 esj tion on: the member 10b'ut also preventing relative rotation of said members 10 and 13. In practice the openings 12and 14 andithe prongs 1'5 and 16 are formed by one punching operation, and are also bent into the shape shown in Fig. 3 by said operation. I The separated arrangement shown in Fig; .t has been shown merely to'illustrate the construction of'the various parts to more clearly bring out how they interengage so' as to lock the parts'in fixedposition} The cap members 13 are provided with the vusual insulating lining 19' which is'held in position by means of a sleeve 20 which is flanged I I over as shown at; 21 and 22' to hold said Us lining in position "in the cap, said, sleeve "with the flanges 22falso giving a finished appearance to the device and providing smooth surfaces where the conductors extend from the'bell 10 into the caps 13. r
7 Having thus described" my 'invention,- 'What I desire to claimand secure by .U. S.
Letters Patent is 1. Ina device of the character described,
a'bell portion and'a member having a reduced portion secured thereto by meansof interlocking fingers, an insulating lining for "ing said cap to said body portion comprising hook prongs on said body portion engaging said cap, said'capyhaving aninsulating .100 said member and a finishing sleeve cover member, a lamp socket cap member, and
means for perman ently and non-rocatably securing said members together, comprisinghooklike portions struck from the edges I I my name this 10th day ofMay A. 1)., 1923.
of aligning openings in said members interfolded and clinched tegethe 4. In an electrical device, a cup-like body member, 2 lamp socket cap member, and means fer securing sin'd nien'iber's together,
comprising. iooklike portions on said IIIGIH- bers interfolded and clinched together-,- said clinched portions'rest ng n reces ses in said members 0 prevent rela tive notatlon bllereof.
i In Witness whereof, I herennto subscribe JOHN R. 'ALLEN.
