Description
N. WARLIGK. THILLS or VEHIOLES.
No. 15,908. Patented Oct. 14, 1856,
UNITED STATES PATENT oEEIoE.
NOAH WARLIGK, or LAFAYETTE, ALABAMA.
ARRANGEMENT OF THE THILLS OF VEHICLES.
. Specification of Letters Patent No. 15,908, dated October 14, 1856.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NOAH WARLIOK, of Lafayette, in the county of Chambers and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Construction of Thills of Vehicles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a top view of swinging frame with thills attached. Fig. 2 is a side view of same. Fig. 3 is a top view of frame with pole attached. Fig. 4 is a side view of same.
Similar characters of reference in the several figures denote the same part.
The object of my invention is the construction of vehicles so as to be readily adapted to the attachment of either one or two horses.
It consists in constructing in front of the running gear, a frame attached thereto by clips, and having sockets for the reception of thills and pole, the details of construction being as follows:
portion of the running gear.
d d are sockets on the under side of front bar a, through which the thills 6, pass; a bolt 2' attaching each to the rear bar 6. A socket f extends across the frame, through which the pole 79 runs. This frame swings to the front of the vehicle, and when one horse is to be driven, the thills are attached; and when a pair is to be used the pole is inserted in the socket f, and keyed therein. This construction furnishes a simple means of adapting the vehicle to the draft of either one or two horses. The swingle trees are attached to the front bar at, either at m or n as the case may be.
What I claim as new and of my own invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The swinging frame composed of bars a and b, and braces 0; adapted to the reception of either thills or pole substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name before two subscribing witnesses.
NOAH WARLIGK.
Witnesses J. W. STACY, JAMES A. GRAoE.
