Description
Patented June 29, 1926.
UNITED STATES ALFRED D.
MULLER, OF BEVERLY, NEW JERSEY.
INTEBCHANGEABLE BOBBIN.
Application filed October 2 This invention relates generally to the textile art and has more specific reference to a bobbin for spinning machines and the like, and the primary object being to provide a bobbin to be employed-in conjunction with practically any type of spinning machine and the like.
A further and important object is to provide a bobbin of this character that 'is equipped with a removable base in order that the interior of the same may be properly machined for securing an even balanced bobbin and wherein through the employing ot' a multiplicity of base plate construction said bobbin may be readily employed in conjunction with various types of machines.
A further and important object is the provision of a bobbin wherein the external circuit thereof is of such a nature as to prevent any slipping'of the yarn or thread thereon.
\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same comprises the novel form, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and shown in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters indicate like parts in both the views Figure l is a view in side elevation, partly in cross section of my improved bobbin, and
Fig. 2 is a base view of the bobbin.
Now having particular reference to the drawing. my novel body comprises a hollow frusto-conical body 5 that is open at its enlarged end and internally threaded as at 6 for receiving an interchangeable disk-like face 7 which may be made to suit any type of spindle in order that the bobbin may be 8, 1925. Serial No. 65,370.
readily interchangeable for any type of spinning machine, the periphery of the base being obviously threaded for threaded engagement within the body 5. I
The exterior surface of the body is knurled as at 8 throughout'the major por-' tion of its length for providing a roughened surface which will obviously prevent of the slipping of the thread or yarn being wraped thereon.
Through the provision of the removable base 7, the interior of the body may be properly machined in -order that a true balanced bobbin can be produced which is essential in the efiicient operation of the device.
It will thus be seen that I have Provided a highly novel, simple and inexpensive form of bobbin that is well adapted for the purposes intended. Even though I have herein shown and described the most preferred embodiment of the invention with which I am at this time familiar, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is 1. In a bobbin of the character described. ahollow frusto-conical body open at one end and a base removably associated with the open end of the body.
2. In a bobbin of the character described,
a hollow frusto-conical body having a knurled exterior surface and a base removably associated with the body.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
7 ALFRED D. MULLER.
