This invention relates to racks for displaying and dispensing rolled material, vand has for one of its objects to improve and simplify the general construction -of devices of this character and to provide one which shall be especially adapted for displaying and dispensing rolls of linoleum, which shall include rollers upon which the linoleum may be readily wound, and which shall include means adapted to permit a purchased length of linoleum to be readily rolled without removing from the rack the roll from which the purchase was made, y p Y A further object of the inventionis the provision of a rack of the character stated which vshall be eXcept-ionally strong and durable .and which may be manufactured at a comparatively low cost. Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description` and designatedin the accompanying drawings, bysimthereof are connected together bycouplings i 10-15. The standards 1 are :held-against tilting` by arms .15a connected to the lcouv plings 14 and to bracket plates 16 adapted to be secured to a wall by screws 17.1'The adjacent ends of the standard sections 4-9 are relativelyspaced, and between these ends the couplings 10-15 are `provided with bearmg openings 18. Rollers 19 are liournaled in the bearing openings 18, and their ends project outwardly beyond the couplings 10-15. The projecting ends of the rollers are provided with caps 2O which contact with the outer sides lofthe couplings 10-15 to prevent the 'endwise displacement .,of' the rollers and which are provided with polygonal openings 21 to permit the rollers to be rotated by va handcrank'22 when it is desired to wind -linoleurn thereon. Each roller '19 is provided with a plurality of spring clips 19a. VArms 28 are connected to and extendy forwardly 'from the couplings 10. Bearings 24:` fully open at their upper sides, are secured'tof the outer ends ofthe arms 23 by couplings v 251.1 A roller F26 is removably mountedin the bearings 24E, has

- secured thereto spring clips 26a, and is `provided at its ends with capsy 27 adapted ,to engage the outer ends ofthe bearings .24rand thus prevent the Vendwisedisplacement thereof. The caps 27 fareA provided withpolyg-V -onal openings 28 to permit the roller 26 to be rotated by the hand crank 22. Arms 29 which are shorter than and located above the arms 23, are secured to and extend forwardly from the couplings 11. Couplings 30 are secured to the outer ends of the arms 29 and support a bar 81 which is provided in its upper side with a longitudinally eX- tended slot 32, and which is secured against endwise displacement by caps 33. The couplings 30 are provided with slots 84: which register with the slots 32 in the bar 31. A linear measuring device 35 is secured to one of the arms 29. It may be of any well known construction, andis provided with a slot 36 through which one edge of the linoleum passes in contact with the operating gear 37 thereof. Rods 38 upon which a cutter 39 is slidably mounted and which are located in front of the bar 31, are secured to the couplings 30. The cutter 39 includes a circular saw blade 40, an electric motor 41 to the armature shaft 42 of which the saw blade is fixed, a handle 43, and a cable 44C which carries the leads extending from any suitable source of electrical energy to the motor. The cable 44: may be provided with a plug, not shown, for insertion in the socket of an electric light fixture. The cutter 39 is slidably connected to the rails 38 by bracket arms 45. During the use of the cutter, the saw blade 40 travels in the slot 32 of the bar 3l.

In practice, the rack is secured to the floor of a room adjacent one of the walls thereof, the bases 2 being secured to the floor and the brackets i6 to the Wall, as suggested in Figures 2 and 3. When it is desired to wind ay roll of linoleum onto one of the rollers 10-15, it is first mounted upon the roller 26. This may be done by lifting this roller out of its bearings 24, inserting it into the roll of linoleum, and then replacing it with the roll thereon in its bearings. The free end of the linoleum is then secured to the roller upon which it is to be wound by the clips 19a of such roller, after which the roller is rotated by means of the hand crank 22 to wind the linoleum thereon. When it is deon the dial thereof corresponding to the length of linoleum purchased. The circuit in which the motor 41 is included is then closed, after which the cutter is moved along the tracks 38 severing the linoleum in alinement with the slot 22. The linoleum wound upon the roller 26 may be easily removed by first lifting this roller from the bearings 24:.

The standards, arms, rollers and rods are preferably hollow, and all parts of the rack are preferably made of metal.

It should be understood that the drawings are merely illustrative and do not pretend to give exact proportions. Furthermore, the said drawings are illustrative of a preferred construction, it being my expectation that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

What is claimed ist- 1. A display and dispensing rack. comprising standards, rollers journaled on the standards for supporting rolls of goods, arms carried by and extending forwardly from the standards, a slotted bar carried by the arms, other arms carried by the standards and located below and extending forwardly beyond the first named arms, and a roller carried by the last named arms.

2. A display and dispensing rack, comprising standards. rollers journaled on the standards for supporting rolls of goods, arms carried by and extending forwardly from the standards, a slotted bar carried by the arms, a supporting rod carried by the arms, a cutter slidably mounted on the supporting rod and having a blade entering the slot in the bar, other arms carried by the standards and located below and extending forwardly beyond the first named arms, and a roller carried by the last named arms.

A display and dispensing rack, comprising sectional standards, couplings connecting the sections of the standards, rollers journaled in the couplings, arms connected to certain of the couplings and adapted to support the standards in upright position, said arms being located at one side of the standards, other arms located at the opposite side of the standards and connected to certain of the other couplings, a roller supported by said last named arms, other arms located above the second named arms and carried by certain of the other couplings, and a slotted rod carried by said last named arms.
