This invention relates to Wheel pullers.
In the present invention, I provide a puller block having` a plurality of threaded openings adapted to engage the threads on the ends of axles of different sizes, and a driving block adapted to be placed over the opposite face of the puller .block and struck with a hammer or other instrument to loosen the wheel fromthe axle.
An object of the invention is the pro vision of a wheel puller which may be employed on axles of different sizes.
A further object is to provide a device of simple construction and relatively few parts.
In the accompanying drawings, I have shown one embodiment of the invention. In this showing:

Referring to the drawings, the reference numeral l designates a puller block which may be formed of any suitable material, preferably metal, and which is provided with extensions in the form of sleeves 2 on opposite faces. These sleeves are provided with openings 3 of dierent sizes, which openings are internally threaded. In removing a wheel from an axle, the hub cap and nut are irst removed, exposing the threaded end 4 of the axle, as shown in Figure l of the drawings. In this view, I have also shown a Wheel hub 5.
The Wheel puller is provided with a rod 6, extending through the center of the puller block and forming a. handle to permit the puller to be assembled on the end of an axle Without the use of a wrench or other tool. A driving block 7 is adapted to be arranged over one of the extensions 2 op posite to the one that is receiving the end of the axle. As shown, the inner end of the driving block is provided with an opening 8 (see Figures 2 and 3) adapted to receive any one of the extensions 2. The driving block is held in position by coil springs 9, the outer ends of which are adapted to be received by screws l0 arranged on opposite sides of the drivingblocl. The inner ends of the coil springs are provided with loops ll adapted to fit over the rod 6.
In operation, the extension having an internally threaded opening of the proper size to receive the threaded portion 4 of the axle is arranged on the axle and the puller block rotated by means of the handle 6. When the block becomes reasonably tight, the driving block is assembled on the opposite extension 2 and the outer face of the driving block struck with a hammer or other tool to loosen the wheel on the axle. As the axle tapers, the loosening of the wheel permits its easy removal. The springs 9 retain the driving block in position and prevent displacement.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
I claim:
l. In a device of the character described a block having pairs of extensions formed on opposite faces, said extensions being provided with threaded openings, a handle extending through said block, a driving block adapted to be arranged over one of said extensions, and resilient means for securing said driving block to said handle.
2. Ina device of the character described, a block having extensions formed on opposite faces, said extensions being provided with threaded openings, a handle extending through said block, a driving block adapted to be arranged over one of said extensions, coil springs secured to said driving block, and means carried by lsaid springs for engaging` said handle to retain said driving block on one of said extensions.
3. In a device of the character described, a block having pairs of extensions formed on opposite faces, said extensions being provided with threaded openings, a driving head provided with a recess adapted to suit ably receive either of said extensions, and resilient means for securing said driving head to said block.
4. In a device of the character described, 5 a block having cylindrical extensions formed on opposite faces, said extensions being provided with threaded openings, a handleiextending through said block, a driving head provided with a cylindrical recess adapted to slidably receive either of said extensions, and coil springs secured between opposite sides of said driving head and opposite ends of said handle.
