With the foregoing and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement ofco-0perating elements as hereinafter more specifically set forth, claimed, and shown in the accompanying drawings forming a part of the present application5 in which Fig. 1 is an elevation of the shoe applied;

Referring more in detail to the drawings, in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, it will be noted that the horseshoe includes two arcuate sections 10 have ing reduced overlapping front ends 11 with their opposed faces 12 oppositely beveled and held in engagement with one another by the pivot 13 extended through the reduced ends 11. This may be clearly seen in Figs. 2 and 3. Each shoe section 1() has a plurality of inwardly inclined clamping members let provided along its out-er edge for engagement over the inclined face of t-he hoof 1.5 to which the shoe is applied, as shown clearly in Fig. 1. A number of callcs 16 are carried on the. under face of each shoe section 10 and are preferably conical with upstanding Shanks` 17 threaded in the shoe sections 10, inline 'with the clamping members 14, as shown in the drawings.' The construction `and'mounting of the calks 16 may be varied, if.- desired, and they may be locatedr at any suitable points along the shoe sections 10. The shoe Vsections 10' have flattened rear end extensions 17 which are norinall'y parallel. A connecting rodl 18 is employed to adj'ustab'ly connectthe rear ends of the shoe'sec'tions lOyandfirmly hold the shoe `on the hoof 1'5. rThe offset ends 19' of 'the connecting 'rod 18 are extended through suitable openings infthe extended rear ends 17 gf the) body sections 10, Ias 'shown clearly in Fig. n the connecting rod` 18 and a nut 21 is threaded on the other end to co-operate with the head 2O in drawing together the extended rear ends 17 of the shoe sections 10 and tightening the shoe on the hoof 15.
In the modified form of the invention disclosed in Figs. 5 and G, double clamping members 141a are employed on the rear portions of the` shoe sections 10. This formv also discloses upstanding lugs 22 on the rear ends of the shoe sections 10, with the offset ends 19 and connecting rod 18 extended therethrough, thus raising the connecting rod 18 above the shoe sections 10 and climi* nating danger of the connecting rod 18 striking upon the surface Iover which the animal is traveling.
By referring to Fig. 7 it will be seen that the clamping members 14 (or 14a) may be adjustably mounted on the shoe sections 10 for adjustment transversely thereof, by means of set-screws 28 extended upwardly through the shoe sections 10 and through elongated slots 211 in the base portions 25 of the clamping members 14C (or 14a). lt is to be seen that the base portions 25 restr in pockets or recesses 2G provided in the upper face of the shoe sections 10; and counter-sunk recesses 27 are provided in the upper faces of the base portions 25, around the slots 24, to receive the nuts 28 threaded on t-he upper ends of the set-screws 28. 1i. is therefore evident that the clamping memn bers let (also clamping members 14a), may be readily adjusted and securely fastened in adjusted position.
It is believed the complete construction and mounting of the shoe may now be apparent from the foregoing paragraphs takn en in connection with the accompanying A head 2O is carried on one end ofv drawings, Without further detail description. it may be briefly stated, however, that the shoe may be readily mounted on and adjusted to hoois or' diiiferent sizes by an inexperienced person Withouttraining as a blacksmith and Without the use of the tools ordinarily required tor applying,` and removing` the col'iventional ii'orin of horseshoe noi-sf' in general use. Furthermore the shoe may be removed and repaired or replaced Without loss of time. By constructing the shoe in the manner disclosed in this application, the necessity oic providingdifferent and shapes oic shoes for dililerent anunals is eliminated. 4t is only necessary to make several different sizes in order to lit the different size and shaped hoofs, as each shoe may be adjusted to a number of di'lierent hools. Attention is also directed to the tact that the shoe sections 10 will be at all times held iirinly together at their pivoted front portions, owing to the beveled faces l2 previously described.
While the preferred embodiment ot the invention has been disclosed, it is to be understood that minor changes in the dctails ol' construction, combination, and arrangement of co-operating elements may be resorted to within the scope or what is claimed, Without departingl from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim as new is:
A horseshoe including arcuate shoe sections having operlappng ends, means for pivotally connecting said overlapping ends, adjustable hoof-clamping members carried by said shoe sections, means -for drawing' together said shoe sections and tightening the saine on the hootl including a connecting rod having,n oliiset portions engaged through extensions on said shoe sections and callo; carried by said shoe sections.
