lMy invention relates to material removlenamelling material removed therefrom .and my invention has for its object to providen a device to effect this operation. 1 U
1n practicing my invention, I-provide a skeleton frame on Which is mounted a vertically adjustable track frame upon which is located a reciprocally movable Work-supporting table. A rea-r stop kand a guard member are mounted on the Workfsupporting table, the rear stop and the guardmembers being adjustable laterally of the table and the guard being adjustable also in a vertical direction; A pair of rotatable ycircular brushes are provided, one being mounted on a horizontal shaft and the other on a ver- -to laterally extending cross-bars 16.

A skeleton frame 10 comprises a plurality of vertically extending metal members 11 tied together by a plurality yof diagonal metal bars 12 to stiften the structure. Anglebar members 13 extend longitudinally of the frame lWork at each side thereof and are suitablyv secured to the upper end of the ver# tically extending Y members 11. Laterally and diagonally extending metal bars 14 are provided at each end of the skeleton frame to brace it in a lateral direction.
A track frame supported by the skeleton frame 10 hereinbefore described, comprises a pair of longitudinally extending angle-bar members '15 which are secured, at their ends, The

members 13 by a plurality of link members 17 which are pivotally connected to the respective members 13 and 15 and provide, in effect, a parallel alinement between the track frame and the supporting skeleton frame therebeneatli.

Means for varying the position of the'track `frame rela-tively to the skeleton frame comprises .a longitudinally extending rod 21. which isprovided, atene end, with a hand Wheel 22 suitably secured thereto and, at its vother end, with a screw-threaded portion 23" which is located in a suitable screw-threaded opening 24 in the member 19. The outer end of the rod 21 immediately adjacent the ihand wheel 22, is rotatably located in a bearing member 25, so that upon rotation fof the rod 21 by the hand `Wheel. 22,the laterally extending rod 19 is moved longitudinally of th-elskeleton frame and varies thev angular position of the members 17 whereby a vertical movement ofk the track frame is effected. It is,vof course, understood that the track fra-me is. also'moved in a longitudinal direction but the extent ofthis movement is relatively lsmall and isl of no effect in the operation of the device. l Y
vWearing .strips 26 are suitablyA secured -to the upper surface of the horizontallyextending web of the angle bars 15 and may coinprise a suitable hardened material in order to'vvithstand the Wear to which it isv subjected during the operation of the device.
A Work-supporting means comprises a substantially rectangular vmetal frame 27 upon which is located a sheet-metal plate 28, suitably secured thereto. A plurality of flanged Wheels or rollers 29 are provided at each side of the Work-supporting means and rest upony then/caring strips 26 to permit of moving the Work-supporting means reciprocally and longitudinally of theskeleton frame. VA flat metal strip 31 is suitably secured at one side of the Work-supporting means, and an adjustable rear stop 32 is Lprovided'intermediatethe back stop 31 and lower end to engage the laterally extending part of the frame 27 of the work-supporting means and is provided with a laterally and horizontally extending portion which may be clamped against the member' 27 to securely lock the two parts of the protecting edge device in any predetermined position relatively to the work-supporting means; A plurality of spaced slots 36 and 37 are .provided in the member 27, and thumb nuts 38 Vare provided on suitable bolts operatively engaging the members 35 to permit of clamping them tightly against the member 27 in any desired position. The member 34 is pro` vided, at its upper end, with a laterally eX- tending slotted portion 39 within which is rotatably `mounted an adjusting nut 4l which operatively engages the upper screw threaded end of a link 42, which is secured, at its lower end, to a vertically movable shoe 43, which operatively engages one side of the member 34. A bolt 44 and a nut 45 serve to connect the lower end of the link 42 to the shoe 43 and, by extending through a suitable slot 46km the member 34, permit also of holding Vthe shoe 43 in its proper loperative position against the outer face lof the member 34 and of securing the shoe tightly against the member 34 in any predetermined position.
A guard 4,7 comprises a longitudinally vextending.; metal bar having an outer beveled edge. At each end of the member 47 there is provided an arm 48 suitably securedthereto, which is pivota'lly mounted in the lbolts 44 intermediate its ends and'has a handle 49- secured to the Lother end thereof in order to permit the operator to raise the guard 47 from the work-supporting means. Y
A horizontally extending shaft 5l is located in suitable bearing members 52 and carries, at itsr outerend, a substantially circular brush 53 suitably secured thereon. A pulley mounted on the shaft'5l ybetween the two bearing members 52, permits of driving vthe shaft and rotating the brush by a suitable electric motor 55. A vertically extending shaft 56 is located in suitable bearings, (not shown) and carries, at its upper end, asubst'a'ntia-lly circular brush 57. The shaft is driven by suitable means not shown by the motor 55. Ags the particular type of drive may be of any suitable Aor desired kind and forms no particular part of .my invention, it is not further illustrated "and described'. Any desired width of edge strip may be removed from any sheet-metal plate, it being vonly necessary to suitably adjust `the Arear stop 32, as may easily be done by the holding screws, provided in and extending through the member 32. The guard member is made adjustable laterally and vertically of the worksupporting means in order to take care of lany wear of the various parts of the device and valso to correct any inaccuracies in the manufacture or assembly of the parts of the complet-e machine. If it is 'desired to lremove. material not only from the flat face of a sheet metal plate buta-lso from a 4depending `edge por-tion, the vertically ext-ending shaft -56 and the brush 57 mounted thereon may be used and the brush 57 will be effective to remove .the material from the vertically extending portion ofthe sheet metal plate, as will Vbe easily understood.
The *device embodying my invention thus provides a relatively sim-ple and inexpensive .means for removing material from the edges of sheet-metal plat-es preparatory to placing them in a heated oven to enamel them, the

5. In a rimming machine, in combination, a rotatable brush, a reeiprocally movable means for supporting material to be operated on by said brush, and a tiltable guard member mounted on said materialsupporting means and adjustable laterally thereof.
6. In aY rimming` machine, in combination, a rotatable brush, a reeiproeally movable means for supporting material to be operated on by said brush, an adjustable rearstop member on said supporting means for positioning-the material laterally of said brush and an adjustable and tiltable guard member on said material-supporting means for holding` down one side of the sheet-material being,- operated on and forpermtting said brush to operatively engage a predetermined vgortion only of said material.
