The subject matter of the present application is disclosed in a general way in my Patent No. 1,507,826, Sept. 9, 1924, and -is principally concerned with an improved means for easily, quickly and seoiirely attaching one end of the tubular flexible bellows wall to the movablebellows head.
-It is a more particular object of my present disclosure to provide means for exerting` a uniform'f-rict'ional clamping action upon the end edge of the flexible bellows wallto tightly hold or secure the same at all points 1to the marginal portion of the bellows head, 4vthereby dispensing with the use of adhesives, tacks or other similar fastening means for this purpose.
Iii'one embodiment of my present invention, I provide means whereby the, frictional clamping element for the flexible bellows wall is tightly secured in connection lwith the bellows head by a frictional clamping ring so that any possibility of accidental separation of the parts will bev effectively obviated.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the improved sound producing device and in the form, construction and relative arrangement of the severall arts to be herpinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and subsequently incorporated in the subjoined claims.

l vThe particular features of construction constituting the'subject matterof my presentapplication are herein illustrated as embodied in a sound producing device of that type wherein the several operating parts ,are enclosed within a shell or casing 5 hav` ing metal caps or closure plates 6 and 7 respectively, applied to the opposite ends thereof. Between these easing ends the axially positioned guide member 8 is arranged.
A bellows is also enclosed within the shell or casing 5, said-bellows including a flexible tubular body wall 9 `having one of its end edges frictionally clamped and Secured over one end edge of the casing wall by the closure plate 7 while the other end edge of said flexible bellows wall is Yconnected to the gravity movable head 10 which is. supported and guided in its movement by the member 8. As 'herein shown this member is of tubular form and within the saine a suitable sound producing reed indicated at 11, is mounted, said reed being located adjacent to an opening in the walll of said member affording communication between the interior thereof and the bellows chamber. The movable bellows head 10 and the member 8 are also provided with coacting means whereby the emission of sound produced by thefexpulsion of air through the reed 11 is automatically controlled in the gravity movement ofthe ybellows head 10 in one direction'. No claim is herein made to this mounting andv arrangement of the bellows head or the automatic sound emission control means, since such subject matter is fully described and claimed in an application for patent liled by me on March 11, 1922, Ser. No. 542,884. The novel feature of the present disclosure isvconfined to the means employed for connecting the flexible tubular wall 9 of the bellows to the head 10, which I have herein illustrated in several alternative forms. in this application to the meansfor attaching the other end edge of the flexible bellows wall to the end of the wall of the casing 5, as this subject matter is particularly described and claimed in my prior pending ap lication fr'st above referred to.

chamber during the gravity movement of the bellows head. It will be understood that in this construct-iony both thehead disc 10 and the wall 16 have parts slidingly engaged upon the member 8 which operate to interrupt the emission of sound from said tubular member into the chamber 18.
In Figure 3 of the drawings, the movable bellows head 10 is provided upon its outer side and in spaced relation to its periphery with the annular flange 20. The flexible bellows wall is turned yover the outer edge of the head and against the flange20 and frictionally clamped in place by means of a 'continuous clamping ring 21 of angular crosssectional form.
I t will be apparent that by providing the head with the annular flange 20 in this instance likewise, the ring 21 which is of angular cross-sectional form, frictionally clamps the end edge of the .flexible bellows wall against two angularly related surfaces of the bellows head. Thus in both constructions herein described the means which I provide forl connecting the end -of the bellows wall to the movable head provides a relatively extensive area of frictional clamping contact betweensaid flexible wall and the bellows head, thus insuring a positive and reliable connection of these parts without the use of adhesives, tacks or other similar fastening means whereby the possibility of their accidental separation is obviated.
From the foregoing description considered in connection with the accompan ing drawing, the construction, manner o operation and several advantages of the illustrated embodimentsgof: the device will be clearly understood. It will be seen that I have entirely dispensed with the use of adhesives and other means heretofore used in the art which vhave been found objectionable primarilyv for entirely satisfactory in practical operationl and affords a very simple and inexpensive means which not only produces a secure and reliable connection but also enables the parts to be properly assembled with great rapidity.
In my present disclosure I have illustrated several practical examples for accomplishing the desired purpose, but it is to be understood that they are merely suggestive'and that the essential feature might'also be exemplified in various .other alternative constructions, and I accordingly reserve the privilege of resorting to all such legitimate changes in the form, proportion and relative arrangement of the several parts as may be fairly embodied within i the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim f 1. A sound producing device of the character described comprising abellows and a gravity actuated weight for collapsing and distending said bellows, a sounding device operated by the air` expelled from said bellows, articulating means for articulating the sound produced by said sounding device, said articulating means 4comprising means for periodically interrupting the sound produced by said sounding device and an encircling clamping ring for connecting one end of said bellowswith said weight, said ring having an inturned flange adapted to extend over part of said weight.

In a sound producing device, a bellows having a tubular flexible wall fixed at one of its ends, a sounding reed, a movable head for the other end of the bellows to expel air therefrom through said reed, said head having adjacent-angularl related surfaces, and a permanently annu ar, structurally continuous member having frictional clamping engagement upon the latter end edge of the flexible bellows wall to clamp the same against the circumferential angularly related surfaces of said head, said member adapted to be moved axially of the head `upon the edge of the bellows wall in the assemblage of the parts, and one of said 'surfaces constituting astop to limit such axial movement of said member toits clamping position.
5. A bellows for sound producing devices, having a tubular flexible wall'a head for one end of said bellows, an annular nonexpansible clamping member, one end edge of such flexible wall adapted to be interposed between said head and said clamping member, and said head and clamping member moved relatively to each other axially of the bellows head to clamp said end edge of the flexible wall between said annular member anda part of said head, and said head and clamplng member having opposed `surfaces frictionally engaging opposite sides of said flexible wall and limiting such relative axial movement of the parts.
