Description
I 1.]. SCHNEIDER, Devices for Attaching Prser-Fegt to their Bars. N \58 744 Patentedjan.12,1875.
WTNEEE-EJ. INVEN-I UR.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFlIGE.
JOHN J. SCHNEIDER, or TAYLOR COUNTY, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES FOR ATTACHING PRESSER-FEET TO THEIR BARS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent 110.158.,744, dated January 12, 1875; application filed December 15, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that I, JOHN J'. SCHNEIDER, of
Machines to their Bars, of which the following is a clear, full, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in
- which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view ofa presserfoot with my improvement attached. Fig. 2
' shows the presser-foot bar with the presserfoot detached. Fig.3 is a vertical section.
'Fig. 4 is. a view of the bottom of the device.
My invention has reference to the 'pre'sserfeet, and all attachments adjustable to the pres ser-bar, of all the difl'erent kinds of sewin g-lnachines, but more particularly the Singer machine, in which the presser-foot is secured by means of a screw, which soon becomes worn and is liable to break, and which is inconvcnicnt to manage in adjusting the presserfoot; and it consists in the combination of the several devices hereinafter described and explained. V
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact manner in which I have carried it out.
In the drawings, A represents the presser-' foot bar of sewing-machine, and B the presserfoot. Across the hollow shank or upper por tion of the presser-foot is secured the small in place, the outer end of the key resting in a recess in the lower part of the shank of the .presser-foot, as shown in Fig.3.
It is evident, from the above description, that the presser-foot or other attachment can only he removed from the bar by pressing the.
lever 0 toward the bar, and thus withdrawing the key 0 from contact with the presser-foot,
when the latter can readily be removed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The slotted presser-foot bar "A, provided with the spring-lever U and key 0, in combination with the presser-foot B, having the small bar a, substantially as and for the 'pur-' pose set forth.
' JoHN J'. SCHNEIDER.
