SEALED CONTAINEB FOR TICKETS, GOEiPONS, .AIE'D THE LIKE.
Application f led. February '7, 1925. Serial No. 7,632.
This invention relates to sales stimulator tickets, other tickets, couponsand tl e like, and particularly to the provision of a container or wrapper therefore which is adapt- 55 ed to conceal the tickets and the like therein andalso to effect a seal or positive enclosure for predetermined data printed or otherwise fixed on the tickets, coupons or the like or that portion thereof, contained within the container; and the object. of the invention is to provide a device .of the class specified which is fashioned from a sheet of paper, cardboard or other suitable material composed of foldably connected and interloc ing parts, which when folded together and secured together. will form a sealed container or wrapper for predetermined articles; a further object being to provide a device of the class specified which when open 'for use in the sale or distribution of tickets, coupons ,or the like will still constitute a sealed container or wrapper for positively concealing and protecting predetermined data ontickets, coupons and the like or that portion thereof located well within' the container or wrapper; and with these and other objects in view, theinvention consists in a devlce of the class and for the purpose specified, which is simple in construction, etlicient inuse and which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
lhe invention describedand claimed herein is an improvement on that shown, described andclaimed .in an application 'for Letters Patent ofthe UnitedStates filed on the th day of December, 1924, and'bearing Serial No. 7 57 ,128 and is'fully disclosed in the .following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which designated by suitable reference characters in each. ofthe vlews, and 1n wh1cl1:-
Fig; 1 1s a perspective v ew'of the con tainer or wrapper in itsfullyconceale'd posi the separate parts of my improvement are 'Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view through the container as shown 111'F1g."1. In pract1ce,l prov de a sheet of predetermined material, prefer-ably light cardboard,
which is fashioned to form a blank '10 as seen in Fig. 2 of the drawing, said blank comprising a? central bedy'portion "11 which forms one side face of the finished container and to which is connected side portions 12 the seoreline 18 and ="the'folded position of said flaps as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing.
Joined to the ends of the central body l1 are extensions 19 and 20, the extension 19 being foldable on the score line-18 and having score lines 19 and 19 and 19 so arranged as to form two side faces 21 and 22 of a closurefflap for the finished container and a sealing tongue 23"having an aperture 2% adjacent the outer end portion thereof and'opening through one side wall thereof. The extension 20'is 'foldable on ai'score line 20 in line with the adjacent edges of the portions 12 and 13, andsaid extension has other score lines 2O"- and 20 to-form' thereof an end wall 25, atop wall 26 and a sealing flap 2?, the latterhaving arranged adjacent one corner thereof and extending longitue dinally thereof an aperture 28, through which the tongue '29 formed on the corner portion of the sealing flap 23 bythe aperture 24 therein, is adapted to pass. The length of the aperture '28 is preferably greater than thewidth of the tongue 29 to permit-of slight IDOVGIIIQIllfOf said tongue longitudinally of the aperture 28.
In the accompanying drawing, sales stimulator tickets 3t) are shown to be supported in the container or wrapperforthe purpose of illustrating one use of the invention, and these tickets, for example, may he similar to the tickets shown in the applicationhereinbefore referred to, said tickets beingbound together by a wire stitch or staple "31 which passes through the bound end portion 32 thereof, the tickets proper being severed from said bound end portion along perio rated finesse and."the-"tielets preperhavit e arranged thereon and preferably adjacent the stitch 31 of the bound ends 32, indicator data. 34 such for example as numerals which are to be sealed within the container or wrapper.
In folding the blank to form a container or wrapper and to. seal the tickets therein, the tickets are first secured together by the staple 31 as previously stated and the flaps 12 and 13 are folded inwardly upon the portions 12 and 13, and said side portions folded upon the central body part 11 in the manner illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawing, after which one of the side portions 12-13 is placed within the other side portion or in the pocket formed between such side portion and the flap thereof and then folded downwardly upon the top face of the tickets 30, and another wire stitch or sta le is then passed through the central l30( y portion 11, the bound portion 32 of the tickets 30 and then through both of the end portions 1213 and the flaps 12 and 13 thereof as seen in Fig. t of the drawing.
The tickets 30 are new fixedly secured in the container or wrapper thus formed and to cover the open end of the stitch or staple 35 and to positively seal the container against opening and also to prevent the removal of the separate tickets, a small por ion of glue is applied to the upper face of the sealing flap 27 adjacent the free end portion thereof as seen at 36 in Fig. 3 of the drawing, after which the flaps 23 and 27 are brought together back to back and interlocked by pass-- ing the tongue 29 through the aperture 28 in the manner illustrated in Fig. 4rof the drawing, and both of said flaps are passed into the container and extend inwardly between the portions 12 and 13 and the flaps thereof and the tickets, and in this operation the glue 36 is spread over the face of one of 'the side port-ions 12 -l3 or its flap and adheres both of the flaps 23 and 27 to the upper portion of the container as will be clearly seen on a consideration of Fig. 5 of the drawing. In the above operation, it will be noted that the side portions 21 and 22 of the closure flap extend around the projecting end portions of the tickets 30, said tickets projecting beyond the main body portion of the container in the construction shown, and a line 37 will be marked upon the side face 22 or said side face may be scored or perforated to facilitate cutting or rupturing such side face to free one end portion of the closure flap when it is desired to effect a sale or distribution of one or more of the tickets 30.
The projecting end portions of the ticketsthe names of cities or States or if desired, such data need not be employed and data similar thereto may be located adjacent the bound portions 32 of the tickets where the indicator data 34 is located therein. It will also be understood that in the operation of withdrawing or removing the separate tickets 30 from the container, the indicator data will not be accessible or Visible through the exterior of the container, the same being concealed and also permanently sealed within the container, it being apparent that when the flap 27 is adhered to the flap 12l3 the separate parts of the entire container are permanently locked against separation and can only be opened by destroying the package or by providing means for cutting or tearing out a predetermined portion of the package to remove therefrom a folded sheet of paper 39 bound with the tickets 30 and on which predetermined data is printed or otherwise fixed in the manner of the ticket construction shown in the application hereinbefore referred to. The container or wrapper also provides, as will be apparent, means for positively concealing and fixedly retaining the slip 39 therein which slip can only be removed in the destruction or rupturing of the container.
It will be understood that I am not necessarily limited to the mounting of tickets of greater length than the dimensions of the container or wrapper proper in such con tainer or wrapper, nor am I necessarily limited to the supporting and sealing of articles of any kind or class in the container, it being understood that the same may be used for many purposes, and it will also be apparent that the container may be made of any suitable form or size, and various other L changes in and modifications of the construction herein shown and described may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.
