Application filed August 17, 1925. Serial No. 50,739.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it knownthat I, BRUNO G-nArnN'rrN, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Brushing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates'to a boot brushing apparatus comprising a spring-controlled foot plate designed to be depressed by the foot wearing the boot to be cleaned. This support plate has racks, one at either side,
which mesh with I pinions.
On the axle of each pinion a brushing roll of approximately conical shape in longitudinal section is keyed, a. quadrant-shaped portion of said brush roll being cutout in longitudinal direction.
The improved apparatus is illustrated, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings in Figs. 1 and 2 in cross section, the elements operating position.
Fig. 3 is a plan View on smaller scale.
On the bottom plate of a casing 1, a be):
is fixed. ()n strong spiral springs 4 located in said box 2 rest rods 8 which support a horizontal plate 5 which carries at each side a. rack 6. These racks 6 gear with pinions 7.
On the long axle of each pinion t a brush roll 8 is mounted which is slightly conical in longitudinal direction, as shown in Fig. 3. Each brush rollB has a quadrant-shaped cut out portion 9 which in the initial position of the brush roll faces the plate5. In front of and behind the plate 5 brushes 10, 11 are fixed on the inner surface of the wall of the easing 1.
boot. The toe and heel of the boot are cleaned by the'brushes 1O and ll.
A boot brushing apparatus comprising in combination a casing, a spring-controlled foot plate in said casing, racks one on each long edge of said plate, two axles parallel to the long edges of said plate, a' conical brush roll fixed on each axle said brush roll having a qua'drant-sl1aped cut out portion extending in longitudinal direction, a pinion on each axle meshing. with the" c0rres 3onding' rack of said foot plate so that, when said springcontrolled foot plate is depressed said pin-' ions and with the same said brush rolls rotate and brush the boot, a brush for the toe, and a brush for the heel of the boot on the inner surface of the walls of said casing in front of and, behind said foot plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
