Extending across thev turntable 1, there is provided thearched bracket 131 having two arms 14 and 15 which arej secured at their innerendsto the upright member 16 The present invention is. illustrated as- I a in the present instance consisting of two sections 17 and 18. To the lower end of the section 17, in the present instance, there is secured the horizontally extending arm 19, to the front free end of which is fixed the depending member 20 having the laterally extending stop ears 21 and 22 at its lower end. Adjacent to the depending member 20 and just to the rear thereof the arm 19 is provided with an opening to receive the pin 23 which has a collar 24 secured thereto and resting on the upper face of the arm 19. The upper end of the pin 23 extends through an opening formed in the forwardly extending portion 25 of the bracket 26 which extends down from the portion 25 and is secured to the arm 19 just rearwardly of thepin 23.
Between the bracket portion 25 and the collar 24 the spring 27 is tensed, normally tomaintain the collar 24 in position against the arm 19, and therewith the pin 23 in low-.. er position. The lower end of the pin 23 protrudes below the arm 19 andhas secured at its lower end the transversely extending pin 28, the lateral ends of which are adapted to be engaged by the arms 29 and 30 of the gripping jaw members 31 and 32 secured to the front free ends of the arms 29 and 30. r
The arms 29 and 30 are pivotally mounted at their rear ends on the shaft 33 secured to the lower bifurcated ends of the section 18 of the upright member 16. The pivotal connection between the arms 29 and 30 and the shaft 33 is such that it will permit lateral movement of the arms 29 and 30 relative to one another so as to permit the gripping jaw members 31 and 32 to approach one another and, recede fromone another in the act of gripping an article and again releasing the same.
Thedepending portion 20.extends at all times between the arms 29 and 30. For normally and yieldably maintaining the arms 29 and 30 in closed position or gripping position, the arms 29 and 30 at the rear ends of the gripping jaw members 31 and 32, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 7, have a pin 34 extending through them, which pin hasv at its outer free ends protruding beyond the gripping jaws 31 and 32 the nuts 35 and 36 to form abutments between which and the gripping jaw members 31 and 32, the co l springs 37 and 38 respectively are tensed, By means of these springs 37 and 38 as aforesaid the gripping jaw members 31 and 32 will be normally and yieldably' maintained in closed or gripping position.
On the arms 29 and 30 and opposing one another, there are formed the cams Y39 and '40 respectively which are adapted to r'egis- 'ter with the'edges of the depending member 20. The depending member, as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5, is provided with a diminished portion 41 which graduates into the enlarged portion 42 through the outwardly flaring cam faces 43 and '44. When the arms 29 and 30 are rocked upwardly, the cams 39 and 40 will co-act with the cam faces 43 and 44 and spread apart the gripping jaw members 31 and 32, which will remain in open or spread apart position so long as the cams 39 and 40 ride on the edges of the en larged portion 42 of the depending .member 20.
Between the arms 29 and '30, there extends the horizontally extending portion 45 of the bent lever 46 which is pivoted at 47 to the shaft 33, the upwardly extending portion 48 of the bent lever extending up between the bifurcated portions of the section 18, and itself having a bifurcated end '49 to receive the end of the link 50 which is there pivotally connected to the arm 48 by the pin 51. At the forward end of the arm 45, and to the lower side thereof, there is secured the block 52 which is wider than the arm 45 and forms the stop shoulders 53 and .54 with the arm 45 as shown in Fig. 8, and has the lower laterally extending stop ledges and 56. The shoulders 53 and 54 and ledges 55 and 56 are adapted to co-act with the recesses 57, Fig. 2, of the arms 29 and 30. i
The link 50 will be intermittently actu ated to transmit an intermittent actuation to the bent lever 46 in turn intermittently to actuate the gripping jaw members 31 and 32. In the present instance, the link 50 is pivotally connected to the lever 58, the screw 59 and slot 60 affording a ready adjustment to vary the throw to be transmitted to the gripping jaws 31 and 32, accord ing tothe size of tubes to be gripped and discharged.
The lever 58 is fixed on the shaft 61 mounted in the bearings 62 and63 formed on the frame member 64. In the present instance, a rocking action is transmitted to the shaft 61 by meansof the lever 65 fixed on the shaft 61, the free end of which is pivotally connected to the arm 66 fixed to the cam lever 67 which is fulcrumed at 68 to the frame and provided with a cam roller 69 co-acting with the cam wheel 70. The pump'7, it will be seen in Fig. 1, is connected intermittently to be opened by means of the lever 71 fixed to the shaft 7 2 connected to the spout not shown on the pump 7, which lever 71 is pivotally connected by the link 73 to the cam lever 67, so that, in the present instance, the toilet cream dispensing pump 7 will be operated from the same cam wheel by which the gripping member 11 is operated.
The gripping faces of the gripping jaw members 31 and 32, as shown in Figs. 3,
4, 5 and 7, are provided. with the vertically extending slots 74 and'75 having the outwardlly flaring ends "("6 and 77', at their lower ends: as shown particularly in 3 and 4, to form guides for the edges of the bottom ends of the tubes to be gripped by the jaw members 31 and 32;

In a device of the character described, the combination with a carrier, of holders on said carrier for receiving toilet cream tubes, a shaft, jaws pivotally mounted on said shaft, a bent lever, a depending arm, cam faces on said arms, means for raising said jaws into cooperative relation with Said cam faces to open the same, means for holding the jaws open until they again descend and receive containers disposed on said carrier, said cams releasing said jaws after they descend into position for receiving a container, springs for normally closing said jaws when releasing to grip a container, and means for raising the jaws so closed to pick up and deliver a container from said carrier.

In a device of the character described, the combination with a rotatable carrier, of holders on said carrier for receiving toilet cream tubes, arms extending outwardly from the center of said carrier, discharging jaws formed at the ends of said arms, and disposed above the path of movement of said holders, means for causing said jaws to descend into engagement with the toilet cream tubes disposed in said holders and again rise, means for closing said jaws when so descended to grip a toilet cream tube and permit the tube to be removed out of its holder upon the ensuing ascent of the jaws, and means for opening said jaws to permit the discharge of the tube so removed from its holder.

In a device of the character described, the combination with a movable carrier, of holders on said carrier for receiving toilet cream tub-es, pivotally mounted arms having jaws at their free ends disposed above the path of movement of said holders, means for causing said arms to swing to cause said jaws to descend into engagement with the toilet cream tubes disposed in holders and again rise, means for closing said jaws to grip a toilet cream tube when so descended and permit the tube to be removed out of its holder upon the ensuing ascent of the jaws, and means for opening said jaws to release the tube so removed out of its holder to permit discharging of the tube.
8. In a device ofthe character described,
the combination with a carrier, for supporting tubes, of a discharging device disposed above the path of movement of the tubes on said carrier, and mounted to swing in a planeperpendicular to the path of movement of the carrier, means for causing said discharging device to swing downwardly into engagement with the tubes disposed on said carrier and again rise, means for causing said discharging device to grip atube when so descended and permit the tube to be removed from the carrier upon the ensuing ascent of the device, and means for causing said device to rise and simultaneously release the tube so removed from said carrier to permit the discharge of the tube.
9. In a device of the character described, the combination with a carrier, for supporting tubes, of discharging jaws mounted to swing in a plane perpendicular to the path of movement of the carrier, means for causing said jaws successively to swing downwardly into engagement with the tubes disposed on said carrier, means for causing said jaws to remove from the carrier the tubes so engaged, and means for causing said jaws to rise and simultaneously release the tubes so removed from the carrier to permit the delivery of the tubes from the carrier.-
10. In a device of the character described, the combination with a carrier, for supporting tubes, of a shaft, gripper members pivotally mounted on said shaft, a bent lever pivotally mounted on said shaft and having an arm extending between said gripper members, supporting stops on said arm on which said gripper members normally rest, means for oscillating said bent lever to cause'said gripper members to descend and ascend, spreading stops on said arm for engaging said gripper members when opened to maintain them in open position, an upperspring for initially exercising a downward pressure on said gripper members to cause said gripper members positively to follow said arm when its descends, lateral springs for normally exercising lateral tension to cause said gripper members to close, a depending mem ber, limiting stops on said depending member for limiting the downward -movement of the gripper members, said arm descending further down than said gripper members descend so as to withdraw said spreading stops to permit said lateral springs to close said gripper members at the lowermost position of the gripper members there to grip a tube disposed on the carrier, cam faceson the depending member, and cams on saidgripper members to be engaged by said cam faces to cause said gripper -members to open as they ascend and permit the tube engaged to be delivered.
11. Ina device of the character described, the combination with a carrier, for supporting tubes, of a shaft, gripper members pivotally mounted on said shaft, lateral springs I scend; means for releasing said holding means at thelowermost position of the gripper members to permit the gripper members to grip a tube on said carrier, a depending member, cam faces on the depending memher, and cams on said gripper members to be engaged b said cam faces to cause said gripper mem ers to open as they ascend and permit the tube engaged to be delivered.

In a device of the character described, the combination with a carrier, for supporting tubes, of a shaft, gripper members pivotally mounted on said shaft, lateral springs on said members for exercising a lateral tension on said gripper members normally to close ,the same, means for oscillating said gripper members, means for holding said gripper members spread apart as they descend, means for releasing said holding means at the lowermost position of the grip er members to permit the gripper mem ers to grip a tube on said carrier, and means for again spreading apart said gripper members as they ascend.

combination with a support-having a'seat a for a container, of a receiving'platform to wardly to grip the container located on said. seat and again upwardly in the direction of said receiving platform to swing the gripped container toward said receiving platform and discharge it thereon, the gripper:
passing through avvertical plane in alinement with said receiving platformand seat. 7 14. In a device of the class'described, the combination with a rotary carrier,there being pockets in said carrier adjacent to the periphery thereof for supporting containers, a horizontal shaft disposed inwardly from the periphery of said carrier, arms pivotally mounted on said shaft and forming gripping jaws at their free ends disposed above the path ofmovement of said pockets, means for swinging said arms downwardly to cause said jaws to receive a container, means for causing said jaws to close when lowered,
and means for thereupon causing said jaws to ascendandopen while rlsing to discharge the contalner received.
