1m 'ENTOR ATTORNEY.
Patented Apr. 27, 1926 I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
romp: 1.. menu, or nn'rnortr, MICHIGAN, nasmnon TO EARL HOLLEY, or DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
' METAL MOLD.
Application filed August 3, 1925. Serial No. 47,725.
, To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosErH L. DOSTAL, a citizen of the United States, residing at 8530 Dexter Blvd., Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Metal Molds, of which the follow in is a specification.
' ihe ob ect of this invention is to provide means whereby a. metal mold of the type disclosed in the U. S. patent. to Phillips, #1,- 099,997, will I produce im roved vcastings. .The defect of castings pro need in the said Phillips molds is that there is' a tendency for the iron to leak through the joints between the two molds.
Figure 1 shows the mold in elevation.
Figure 2 shows a cross sectional plan view on the plane 2-2 of Figure 1.
The mold, for illustration, is shown adapt ed for the casting of pistons, and" corresponds to the type of mold shown in the pat out to Meloche #1,502,861.
The mold consists of two halves A and B,
.in the Philli namely for t e purpose of preventing or and a faoi joint C surrounding a corecavity D in wlich a core- Exis suspended and located concentrically therein. The joint (I is milled off so that the two halves of the mold come together on a relatively narrow face, for the same. purpose as that described patent referred to above,
ing rib surrounding said cavity, a groove dividing said facing rib into two relatively narrow strips separated by said groove. r
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
