To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, REUBEN. Hirorioooii, a citizen of the United States, residing. at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga. and State of Ohio, have. invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sheet-Delivery Tables, of whichthe following is a specification.
My invention relates to iIHPI'OVGlHQDtS in sheet delivery tables and hasfor its object the provision of. means for driving thediage onally positioned rolls thereof more. effectively than is obtainable with driving mechanism in use at the present time.
A difficulty commonly encountered with the driving mechanism of the prior art has resided in the displacement of the underrunning belt commonly employed for this purpose. lVith the diagonally positioned rolls of different lengths, which are used in sheet delivery tables, there is arecognized tendency of the belt, which also must drive in a diagonal position, but at right angles with the rolls, to slip out of proper position with respect to its driving pulley and thereby seriously wear the edges of the belt. This tendency has been attributed to the diiticulty of maintaining accurately aligned bearings for the rollers and, possibly, the. different drag which these rollers of different lengths impart to the belt.
Accordingly, it has been my purpose to produce a driving mechanism which shall avoid the difliculty above referredto and improve the efficiency of the drive. For this purpose I have associated with the driving belt and its adjacent mechanism suitably coacting paired rollers which shall engage the belt closely adjacent to its driving pulley and beyond the tightening device or adjustment, whereby said belt is caused to ride into its proper position upon the pulley. Furtl'ier features of construction and operalion may best be explained by making reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:

' Referring first to Fig. 1, the essentials of the well-known type of delivery table are shown, comprisingthe diagonally positioned rolls a of varying length journaled within the irregular supporting frame a; These rolls are driven by a diagonally extending belt 5 under-running said rolls and pressed against the same by flanged idlers 0 normally interposed between each pair of rolls, as best shown in Fig. 3. 'lVith the belt properly adjusted by the pivoted member f and its screw-acting means, all tendency of said belt to ride upon one or the other of the lateral sets of flanges upon-the idlers 0 is effectively avoided, so
that the stretching of one edge or the otherof the belt, .and its wear or abrasion, are positively overcome.
The construction shown inFigs. 5 and 6 upon a somewhat larger scale embodies the same principles; the adjustment being one that is adapted for useupo-n certain types of delivery table, whereby one may apply my present invention without furthermodification. In this particular construction the idlers i are mounted upon angularly extendisaiaza Nr FF'ICE,

Fig. 7 illustrates another slight modification wherein an ungrooved roller 2 is mounted near the end of the arm 2" and serves the same purpose of positioning and guiding the edges of the driving belt, not shown in this figure.

Having now described the apparatus embodying my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, the following:
