Be it known that I, Bnirrironn NAGY, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at the borough of Brooklyn, in the city of New York, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Delivery Mechanisms for Bottle-Cap-Assembling Machines, of which the following is'a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings, which form apart thereof.
My invention relates to delivery mechanisms for bottle cap assembling machines, and more particularly to a construction and arrangement of parts which will permit a slow movement of the completely assembled caps adjacent the finishing head of the machine, without reducing the capacity of the machine.
Heretofore in bottle cap assembling machines, it has been a common practice to pro-y vide a belt conveyor adapted to receive the completely assembled caps as they are dclivered from the finishing head, and convey them for substantially the full'len th of the machine, said caps being trans erred in gro-ups, to a slow moving beltat the end of the machine adjacent the shell hopper and most remote from the finishing head, where they may be readily inspected and imperfect caps removed.
Thedificulty with this type of machine has been that, owing to the slow moving inspection belt being rcimote from the mechanisms for assembling the cork disk and shell in the machine, and the finishing head, two operators have been required, one to observe the functions of the mechanisms of the machine proper, and the other to inspect the completed product.
In a delivery mechanism embodying .my invention, the various parts of theI delivery mechanism are so constructed that they may be conveniently' assembled lin an ordinary bottle cap assembling machine, adjacent the delivery head end of the machine so that one operator may inspect the caps after their delivery from the' head, and observe the assembling mechanisms of the machine, while in a position where the controls of the ma,- chine will be conveniently accessible so that in an emergency the machine may be instantly stopped.

A delivery mechanism embodying my invention includes a high speed conveyor adapted to receive completely assembled caps as they are discharged from the finishiu g head, and to remove them from adjacent the head sufficiently rapidly to always provide space for the cap delivered to the conveyor upon the succeeding delivery nievement of the finishing head, intermittently operative means being provided whereby when a certain number of caps have been accumulated upon said conveyor, they will be automatically delivered to a slow moving conveyor, the speed of which will be such as to permit a convenient inspection of the caps and yet have a capacity commensurate with the full capacity of the finishing head.
All of the parts'of the delivery mechanisin are actuated from a single shaft, thus ensuring a perfect timing in the functioning of this mechanism, this shaft receiving its power from the main shaft of the machine so as to time the delivery mechanism with relation te the functioning of the delivery head. l I
The invention consists primarily in a delivery mechanism fer bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, lonT speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement ofhigh speed belt and having one end there-p of closely adjacent thereto, means adapted to simultaneously actuate said belts, atransfer device above said high speed belt, and means for intermittently actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said high speed belt will be simultaneously removed thercfrom in groups and delivered to said low speed belt; and in suoli other novel featuresof construction and combination of parts as are hereinafter set forth and described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims hereto appended.

ln the embodiment of my invention illustrated in the drawings, l have shown at 10 a fragmentary portion of a bottle cap assembling machine including therein a rotatable finishing head 11 having a sequence of plungers adapted to apply a continuing pressure to a cap after the shell and cushion disk have` been applied thereto. ln this type of machine, the assembled'cap is dellveied tothe finishing head, and after it has been subjected to pressure for 'the desired` length of time measured by substantially one full rotation of the head, the completed cap is ejected from the head. This mechanism is old and well known in this art and forms no part of my present invention, excepting in so far as it is necessary to synchronize the functionings of the delivery mechanism with the angular s eed of the head so as to remove the com eted caps from adjacent said head with su cient rapidity to impart to the delivery mechanism a capacity commensurate with the other mechanisms of the machine including said head. *To securey the desired handling of the caps after leaving the head 11, l provide a high speed conveyor belt 12 passing about a power shaft 13 and roller 14, said shaft and said roller being mounted in a frame 15 secured to the frame of the machine, in any desired manner and forming a lateral extension thereof,-c osely adjacent the finishing head so that the ca s as they leave the finishing head will be elivered to said belt` and be conveyed from adjacent the head.' To avoid an such sagging of the upper reach of the elt 12, as would tend to cause movement of the caps. along the belt, I rovide a support 16 engaging the under side ofthe upper reach which will ensure the top reach of the belt remaining substantially flat at all times.
' Also carried by the frame 15, are rollers 17 and 18, the axes of which are parallel with each other but at right angles to the axes of the shaft 13 and roller 14. Extending about said rollers 17 and 18 is a wide, low speed conveyor belt 19 extending paralle with the top frame of the machine ongitudinally thereof and closely adjacent thereto. While this belt 19 is relatively wider than the belt 12, its total width will be approximately eight or ten inches, so as to permit an operator standing beside same to still be sufficiently close to the working 'mechanisms of the machine l0, to be able to inspect these mechanisms and control the operation of the machine, while at the same time inspecting caps delivered from' the finishing head 11.
ntermediate the rollers 17 and 18, l provide parallel supports 20 and 21 which will serve to impart rigidity to the su porting frame 15 adjacent said low speed Ibelt and prevent sagging of this belt in a manner to cause relative movement of the caps in different rows. Carried by the roller 17 is a worm gear 22 co-operating with which is a worm 23 upon the shaft 13, a construe tion which ensures not only the desired reduction of speed in the drive of the belt 19, but the maintenance of a fixed ratio of speed between this belt and the belt l2 which is also driven from the shaft 13.
Carried by the shaft 13 is a gear 24. driven from the main shaft of the machine by means of the chain and sprocket wheel mechanism 25 and the intermediate gear 26 which ensures the desired direction of drive of the shaft 13, at a speed so proportioned to that of the main shaft of the assembling machine as to cause the lineal speed of the belt l2 to substantially correspond with the angular speed of the finishing head 11.
Although the shaft 13 is small, it will be noted that a speed reducing mechanism is employed between this Shaft and the main shaft of the machine which is necessary' owing to the fact that while the delivery mechanism is driven from this main shaft, the lineal speed of the conveyor belt 12 is determined by the angular speed of the finishing head 11, which is of necessity rela.- tively lower than that of the mainshaft of the machine, since said finishing head makes only a small art of a revolution with each full revolutlon of said shaft.
Mounted upon the frame 15 immediately above the belt 12, and with its axis substantially irl-vertical alinement with the center line of said belt, is a transfer device adapte'l to have intermittent movement in a manner to simultaneously remove all caps upon the belt 12 and deliver them in a group to the belt 19, the functioning of said device being so controlled that it will operate twice with each full cycle of-the belt 12 and will also be operated in synchronism with the movement of the belt 19 so as to avoid the piling of caps upon said last named belt in a position 'where proper and rapid inspection thereof is difficult or impossible.
This transfer device comprises a plurality of spaced vanes 27 carried by oppositely disllO posed circular head plates 28 and 29, the plate 28 being of relatively smaller diameter than the plate 29 to permit the caps to pass freely below the plate 28 onto the belt 12, the increased diameter of the plate 29 being for the purpose of imparting greater' rigidity to said vanes. Said plates 28-29 are carried by a shaft 30.
The plate 29, which is more remote from the finishing head 11, has secured thereto a ratchet wheel 31 co-operating with which is a pawl 32 carried by a swing arm 33 mounted upon the shaft 30, said pawl being adapted .to be actuated by means of a crank shaft 34 having an upwardly extending arm 35 pivotally connected by a link 36 with the swing arm 33. The crank shaft 34 also car ries a cam 37 projected in the path of a sequence o-f tappets 38 carried by the worm gear 22; the function of these tappets and cam lis to merely set the pawl 32 in relation to the ratchet wheel 31,- the feeding movement of the vanes 27 of the transfer device being imparted thereto by a weight 39 so as to ensure ease of movement of said vanes and avoid a too rapid movement of the caps from the belt 12 to the belt"19;
Preferably I arrange the belt 19 upon a slightly lower plane than the belt 12 so as to bring the upper reach of the former in close proximity to thelatter, the gap between said belts being closed by a stay rod 40 having an inclined upper surface along which the caps may freely glide after leaving the belt 12 and until they come to rest upon the belt 19.
'lhe vanes 27 are spaced apart a distance in arc substantially equalling the width of the belt 1.2 and the outer edges of said vanes come in suliiciently close proximity to said lbelt to form parallel guides between which the caps pass as they are being conveyed by the belt 12, thus precluding possibility of escape ofthe caps from said belt and maintaining them in substantial alignment until they are moved from the belt by one of said varies.
. The belt 19 is of a width substantially equalling the length of the upper reach of the belt 12 so as to receive caps in a number required 4to fillv the said reach of the belt 12.
The operation of the herein described me- Ichanism is substantially as followjsz With each cycle of the main power shaft of the assembling machine, a completely assembled cap is discharged from the finishinghead 11, and falls upon the high speed belt 12, said belt and the low speed belt 19 being continuously actuated, but at different speeds as described.
'[he slow movement of the worm gear 22 will, through a tappet 38 and cam 37, impart a gradual movement to the crankshaft 34, lifting the weight 39 and advancing the pawl 32 so as to cause it to ride upon the succeeding tooth of the ratchet wheel 31, the shaft30 during this movement remaining stationary with two of the vanesimmediately above the belt 12 thus forming fixed guides between which the completely assembled caps pass withv movement of the belt. The small diameter of the circular head plate 28 affords clearance between same and the belt 12 for the passage of said caps. Each cap as it is delivered to the belt 12 will 'be conveyed thereby away from the finishing head 11, at a speed so that upon the discharge of the next .cap from said linishing head, there will be space upon the belt to receive same.
When the entire upper reach of the belt 12 is occupied by caps, and immediately following the delivery of the last cap which the belt will contain, the tappet 38 operative upon the cam 37 will pass from the rise of said cam, thus permitting the weight 39 to descend, rocking the shaft 34 in a direction opposite to its movement by said cam 37, and imparting such movement to the shaft 30 as will cause one of the vanes 27 to wipe all of the caps upon t-he belt 12 thereform, the said shaft 30 coming to rest immediately thereafter with the succeeding vane 27 and the vane which has just been operative to wipe the caps from the belt, m the desired guiding relation to the belt 12.
'lhe caps which are indicated at (L in the drawings, upon leaving the belt 12, slide down the inclined surface of the stay rod 40, and come to rest, in a line, upon the low speed belt 19, by which they will be conveyed slowly away from the belt 12.
A cap a will be delivered to the belt 12 with each cycle of the main power shaft of the machine 10, the vanes 27 being intermittently operated at intervals according to the number of caps which it is desired to simultaneously transfer to the belt 19, so
that with the continued operation of said machine 10, the belt 19 will be substantially completely covered with finished caps with loo the cork disks vpresented upwardly wherean operator standing adjacent the finishing head 11 may conveniently inspect all of the caps upon said belt, and will have ample time to do so and, at the same time to watch the other mechanisms of the machine, excepting the shell feeding mechanism, which latter' in actual practice requires little or no attention excepting for the occasional retilling of the hopper.
In the embodiment of: the invention shown, the belt 12 is of a length to receive eight caps while the shaft 30 is stationary, the ratio of the gears 2-l and 26 and the diameter of the Ishaft 13 being so proportioned that with each cycle of the main power shaft of the machine., the belt l2 will be advanced a distance substantially equalling the diameter of a bottle cap, the speed ratio between the belt 12 and the belt 19 being such that the latter belt will travel at substantially one-eighth the speed of the former.
By employing a shaft 13 carrying a driving pulley for the belt 12 and a worm meshing with the worm gear driving the belt 19, the timing of both belts is positive and invariable, so that there is littleior no likelihood of a piling of the caps upon either of these belts. .I
By employing a rock shaft actuated from the power gear driving the belt 19, the timing of the actuation of the wiping vancs is also made positive, the substantially instantaneous action of these vanes being secured through the actuation of the pawl 32 under the iniuence of the weight 39, or its equivalent, without imparting suclra violent impulse to the caps as would tend to cause a loss in their alinement as they pass from the belt 12 to the belt 19. I secure highlypadvantageous results by setting the pawl 32 through the application of a slow, continuing power, since/by this method accuracy in the timing of the operative moment of the pawl upon the ratchet wheel may thus be secured. Byrusing a chain and sprocket mechanism 25, Il avoid any possible loss in synchronism between the main power shaft of the machine and the delivery mechanism such as might occur if a belt and pulley drive be used.
It is apparent that the design of the driving mechanism shown in the drawings, to secure the desired speed ratio, is capable of wide variation so long as gearing is employed for driving the belts 12 and 19 at the desired speed with relation to each other and the angular speed of the finishing head 11.
It is not my intention to limit the invention to the precise details of construction shown in the accompanying drawings, it being apparent that such may be varied without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Y
Having'- described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to have protected by Letters Patent, is
1. In connection with a bottle cap assembling machine comprisinga rotary finishing head, the combination of' a delivery mechanism consisting of a narrow conveyor belt running with a speed substantially corresponding to the angular speed of the finishing head and being laterally disposed to the same so as to receive the assembled caps dropping from the said finishing head, a wire conveyor belt, running at lowerspeed than the narrow'beltand at a right angle to the same, having one end closely adjacent to the narrow belt, means directly and simultaneously actuating said belts, an inter- .mttently rotary transfer device above said narrow belt, andmeans co-operatively connected with aforesaid belt actuating means for intermittently actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said narrow belt will be simultaneously removed therefrom in groups and delivered to said wide belt.
2. In connection with a bottle cap assembling machine comprising a rotary finishing head, the combination of a delivery mechanism consisting of a narrow conveyor belt running with a. speed substantially corresponding to the angular speed of the finishing head and being laterally disposed to the same so as to receive the assembled caps dropping from the said finishing head, a wide conveyor belt, running at a lower speed than the narrow belt and at a right angle to the same, having one end closely adjacent to the narrow belt, a driving vshaft,'a
driving roller thereon about which said narrow belt passes, rollers, one of same having a worm gear secured thereto engaging a worm on said-driving shaft driving said wide belt, a speed reducing gearing on the shaft of one ofthe rollers of said wide belt operatively connecting the roller with said driving shaft, an intermittently rotary transfer device above said narrow belt, andmeans for intermittently actuating said transfer device.
3. In connection with a bottle cap assembling machine comprising a rotary finishing head, the combination of a delivery mechanism consisting of a narrow conveyor belt running with a speed substantially corresponding to the angular speed of the finishing head and being laterally disposed to the same so as. to receivethe assembled caps dropping from the said finishing head, a wire conveyor belt, running at lower speed than the narrow belt and at a fight angle to the same, havingone end closely adjacent to the narrow belt, a driving shaft, a driving roller thereon, about which said narrow belt passes, rollers, one of same having a worm gear secured thereto engaging a worm on said driving shaft driving said wide belt, a speed reducing gearing on the shaft of one of the rollers of the same, operatively engaging said shaft, an intermittently rotary trans- :Eer device above saidi narrow belt, a plurality of means actuated in synchronism with the driving roller of said low .speed belt, and means co-operating therewith and with said transfer device for intermittently actuating said transfer device.
4. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembllng machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the nishing4 head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and nascere having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto, a driving shaft, a driving roller thereon about which said high speed belt passes, a worm gear carried by one of the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a worm carried by said shaft, cooperating with said gear, whereby said belts are simultaneously driven at a fixed ratio, a transfer device above said high speed belt, and means for intermittently actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said high speed belt will be simultaneously removed therefrom in groups and delivered to said low speed belt.
5. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereot closely adjacent thereto, a driving shaft, a driving roller thereon about which.said high speed belt passes, a worm gear carried by one of 'the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a worm carried by said shaft, cooperating with said gear, whereby said belts are simultaneously driven at a fixed ratio, a transfer device above said hi h speed belt, a plurality of members carried y said worm gear, and means co-operating therewith and with said transfer device for intermittently actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said high speed belt will be simultaneously removed therefrom in groups and delivered to said low speed belt.

A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, highspeed conveyor beltl extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a support for the upper reach of said belt, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto, a support for the upper reach of said low speed belt, a drivinel shaft, a driving roller thereon about whic said hi h speed belt passes, a worm gear carried y one of the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a worm carried by said shaft, cooperating with said gear, whereby said ybelts are simultaneously driven at 'a fixed ratio, a transfer device above said high speed belt, and means for intermittently actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said high speed belt will be simultaneously removed thereform in groups and delivered to said low speed belt.
7. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto, means adapted to simultanously actuate said belts, a shaft above said high speed belt, a plurality of spaced vanes extending longitudinally of and equidistantly located around said shaft and adapted to form guiding means adjacent the opposite sides thereof, a ratchet wheel carried by said shaft, a swing arm idly mounted to have movement concentrically with said ratchet wheel, a pawl carried by said swing arm, a plurality of means actuated in synchronism with the driving roller of said low speed belt for operatively engaging said swing arm, whereby said' shaft will be intermittently rotated to simultaneously remove caps in groups from said high speed belt and deliver them to said low speed belt,
8. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction ot' movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto, a driving shaft, a driving roller thereon about which said high speed belt passes, a worm gear carried by one of the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a worm carried by said shaft, cooperating with said gear, whereby said beits are simultaneously driven at a iixed ratio, a shaft above said high speed belt, a plurality of spaced vanes extending longitudinally of and equidistantly located around said shaft and adapted to form guiding means adjacent the opposite sides thereof, a ratchetfwheel carried by said shaft, a swing arm idly mounted to have movement concentrically with said ratchet wheel, a pawl carried by said swing arm, a plurality of means carried by said worm gear, operatively engaging saidswing arm, whereby said shaft w1ll be intermittently rotated to simultaneously remove caps in groups from said high speed lbelt and deliver them to said low speed belt. v
9. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assemblmg machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closelyadjacent thereto, a' driving shaft, a driving roller thereon about which said high speed belt passes, a worm gear carried by one of the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a worm carried by said shaft, co-operating with said gear, whereby said belts are simultaneously driven at a fixed ratio, a shaft above said high speed belt, a plurality of spaced' vanes extending longitudinally of said belt and adapted to form guiding means adjacent the opposite sides thereof, a ratchet wheel carried by said shaft, a swing arm idly mounted to have movement concentrically with said ratchet wheel, a pawl carried by said swing arm, a crank shaft, a weight acting upon one of the cranks ofy said shaft, operative connections between said crank and said swing arm, said pawl and said ratchet wheel being so set as to cause movement to be imparted to said vanes by said weight, a cam carried by said crank shaft and a plurality of tappets carried by said worm gear and co-operating with said cam,
whereby said awl will have a slow setting movement and) a rapid feeding movement, and said vanes will be intermittently actuated to simultaneously remove caps in groups from lsaid high speed belt and deliver them to said low speed belt.
10. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein al narrow, high speed conveyor belt extending laterally of an assembling machine and adapted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said hi h speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto, a driving shaft, a driving rollerl thereon about which said high speed beltpasses, a worm gear carried by one of the rollers about which said lowl speed belt passes, a Worm-carried by said s aft, co-operating with said gear, whereby said belts are simultaneousl driven at a fixed ratio, a transfer device a out said high speed belt, a plurality of members carried by said worm gear, means (zo-operating therewith and with said transfer device for intermittently `actuating said transfer device, whereby caps upon said high speed belt will be simul-l taneously removed therefrom in groups and delivered to said low speed belt, and a speed reducing gearing between said driving shaft and the main shaft of a bottle cap assemblin machine.

12. A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a narrow, high speed conveyor belt extendin laterally of an assembling machine and a apted to receive completely assembled caps one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto and upon a lower plane than the upper reach of said high speed belt, a stay rod extending parallel with said high s eed belt and having an inclined surface lea ing toward said lowv speed belt, means adapted to simultaneously actuate said belts, a transfer device above said high speed belt, and
means for intermittently actuating said/ adapted to receive completely assembled caps M one at a time from the finishing head of said machine, a wide, low speed conveyor belt moving at right angles to the direction of movement of said high speed belt and having one end thereof closely adjacent thereto and upon a lower plane than the upper reach of said high speed belt, a stay rod extending parallel with said high speed belt and having an inclined surface leading toward said low speed belt, a driving shaft, a driving roller thereon about which said high speed belt passes, a worm gear carried by one of the rollers about which said low speed belt passes, a Worm carried by said shaft," cooperating with said gear, whereby said belts are simultaneously driven at a fixed ratio, a shaft above said high speed belt, a plurality of spaced vanes extending longitudinally of and equidistantly located around said shaft and adapted to form guiding means adjacent the opposite sides thereof, a ratchet wheel carried by said shaft, a swing arm idly mounted to have movement concentrically with said ratchet wheel, a pawl carried by said swing arm, a crank shaft, a weight acting uponone of-the cranks of Saidshaft, operative connections vbetween 'said crank and said-swing arm, said paw-l and saidl ratchet wheel being so setas to cause movement to be imparted to said vanes by said weight, a cam carried by said crank shaft, a

A delivery mechanism for bottle cap assembling machines embodying therein a frame adapted to be secured to the frame of a bottle cap assembling machine adjacent the finishing head thereof, a power shaft mounted in said frame, a roller having an axis parallel with said shaft, a narrow belt passing about said shaft and said roller and extending laterally Iof the assembling machine, parallel rollers mounted in said frame with .their axes at right angles to said shaft and said first named roller, a wide belt passing about said last named rollers, a worm gear carried by one o-f said last named rollers, a worm on said shaft co-operating therewith, whereby said narrow belt and said wide belt will be driven at a fixed speed ratio, one end of said wide belt being closely adjacent said narrow belt and positioned upon a lower plane, a stay rod carried by said frame and having an inclined surface terminating adjacent the upper reach of said narrow belt andthe upper reachof said wide belt respectively, a speed reducing gearing between said worm shaft and the main shaft of the assembling machine, a shaft above being so set as-to cause movement to be im* y parted to said vanes by said weight, a cam carried by said crank shaft, and a plurality of tappets carried by said worm gear and co-operating with said cam, whereby said paw will have a slow setting movement and a rapid feeding movement, and said vanes will be intermittently actuated to simultaneously remove caps in groups from said narrow belt to said wide belt.
15. rlhe combination with a bottle cap as sembling machine having a finishing head, of' a frame forming a lateral extension to said machine beginning at said head, a narrow, high speed conveyor operatively mounted in said frame transversely thereof and commencing adjacent said finishing head to receive therefrom and carry away completely assembled caps, a transfer device operatively mounted in said frame above said conveyor and adapted when actuated to remove a group of caps therefrom simultaneously with the operation of said conveyor, means for intermittently actuating said transfer device, and a wide, low speed conveyor operatively mounted in said frame longitudinally thereof and mmencing adjacent said high speed conveyor to receive groups of caps therefrom and carry them away.
