FimNKn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Manitowoc, in the county of Manitowoc and State of VVisc'onsin, residing at 1334 So. 15th St, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Pocket Combs and Mirror Cases; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

This invention relates to a combination pocket comb and mirror case.

Objects of this invention are to provide a combination pocket mirror and comb case which may be produced without employing any costly process such as gluing, sewing or otherwisee securing parts together, and to provide a combination mirror and comb case in which the mirror is reinforced by the comb and breaking of the mirror is prevented. i

It' is to be noted that these pocket cases for combs and mirrorsare sold at a very small price, and it is, therefore, imperative toeliminate all steps in their process of manufacture which increase their cost.

It has been found from actual practice that gluing or otherwise securing the edges of the case is relatively extremely expensive, and this invention is, therefore, designed to avoid the gluing operation wholly, and to provide a case which due to its inherent construction, will remain in assembled position without any auxiliary fastening means.

Further objects are to provide a pocket comb and mirror case which is of attractive construction, which is small and compact, and which may be most readily and quickly manufactured.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 2 is a View of the assembled device showing the comb partly projecting, to more clearly illustrate the construction.

Figure 5 is a detailed fragmentary View illustrating a preferred modification of the invention.

Informing this combination pocket case for a comb and mirror, it is intended using fiber, pasteboard, artificial leather or other similar semi-fie:-zible or flexible material which may be very cheaply produced, and may be readily manipulated.

In forming the device, a blank, such as illustrated in Figure 1 is first stamped from the material and comprises a front 1 having a cut out 2 preferably provided with beveled corner portions. The blank further coinprises a back 3 with a thumb cutout 4. This blank is provided with marginal flaps 5 and (3 and with a projecting tongue 7.

In assembling the device a rectangular mirror 8 is positioned over the opening 2 and the marginal flaps 5 and'fi are folded inwardly along the dotted lines 9' and 10, respectively. Thereafter, the back 8 is folded along theline 11 and the tongue 7 is tucked into the pocket formed by the back 3 and the inwardly folded flaps 5'and6, as clearly shown in Figure 3. I

This construction securely retains the mirror in position, as clearly shown in the sec tional views (see Figures 3 and 4) and provides a pocket 12 for the reception of the comb 13, such comb being'omitted from Figures 3 and 4 for the sake of clearness.

It is to be particularly noted that when the tongue 7 is folded inwardly that it looks the parts together and prevents their reopening. Further, the positioning of the comb within the pocket 12 provides a reinforcing backing for the mirror 8 and prevents cracking of the mirror.

It will thus be seen that a combination pocket comb and mirror case has been provided which may be constructed without gluing or other expensive steps, which is of simple and sturdy construction, and which may be most cheaply produced.

As illustrated in Figure 5 I propose to provide the front portion 1 of the blank with a liner plate 10, of substantially the same di mensions, the liner being provided with'an aperture 11 corresponding with the cutout 2, of the front. The peripheral edge of the aperture 11 is turned over to form a bead 12 for engaging the edge of the cutout 2. The plate 10 serves as a stiffened reinforcement for the entire case, and in addition to reinforcing and protecting the edge of the cutout 2, the bead 12 addsmaterially to the outward appearance of the case, forming a frame for the mirror. Further, the plate 10 protects the mirror against accidental breakage when the casing is carried in the pocket, and permits the use of a much thinner glass than in instances where the plate is not used.

Although the invention has been described in considerable detail, it is to be understood that the invention may be variously cinbodied and is, therefore, to be limited only as claimed.

I claim:

1. A combination pocket comb and mirror case comprising a front having an aperture therethrough, a bae integral with the front, marginal flaps carried jointly by said back and front and folded inwardly between such back and front, a tongue integral with said front, said tongue being folded into the space between said back and said flaps to provide a comb pocket, and a. mirror positioned rearwardly of said front adjacent saic aperture.

2. A combination mirror and comb case formed from sheet .rnaterial comprising a front having a cut out, a mirror located rearwardly of said front and exposed through said out out, a back integral with said front, marginal flaps carried by said front and back and folded inwardly between said front and back, said front having a tongue integral therewith and folded inwardly between the flaps carried by said back to provide a comb pocket.

A blank for a combination pocket comb and mirror case comprising a front having a cut out, a back integral therewith, n1arginal flaps carried jointly by said front, and back and extending in unbroken continuity from one end of said blank to the other, and a tongue of approximately the same width as said front, said tongue being integral with said front and projecting outwardly therefrom.

A combination comb and mirror case con'iprising a front having an aperture thcrethrough, a liner plate, for said front provided with an aperture corresponding with the front aperture, the peripheral edge of said plate aperture being turned over to form a head for engaging the edge of the front aperture, a back integral with the front, marginal flaps carried jointly by said bzzck and front and. folded inwardly between such back and front, a tongue integral with. said front, said tongue being folded into the space between said back and said flaps to provide a comb pocket, and a mirror positioned rearwardly of said front adjacent said aperture.

5. A blank for con'lbination pocket comb and mirror case comprising a front having a cutout, a liner plate for said front provided with an aperture corresponding with the front cutout, the peripheral edge of said aperture being turned over to form a bead for engagi g the front of said cutout, a back integral therewith, marginal flaps carried jointly by said front and back and extendin unbroken continuity from one end of said blank to the other, and atongue of approximately the same width as said front, said tongue being integral with said front and projecting outwardly therefrom.
