Each of the bearing arms 11 has the elongated bearing 13 in which is adjustably mounted the post 14 which may be secured in vertically adjusted position by means of the set screws'15.
Surmounting each of the posts 14 is a crown piece, constituting the side supports for the side frames of the warp stop mecha nism, and each comprising a socket portion 16 secured to the posts by a set screw 17. EX- tending upwardly from the socket portion 16, the crown piece is provided with a flange or web 18, preferably curved as shown, the arcuate guide 19, Fig. 2, and the bolts 20, for a purpose as will presently appear.
The warp stop mechanism as herein shown comprises the side frames 21, one at each side of the loom, and such side frames between them carry the warp stop mechanism. Each side frame is provided with warp bar supporting sockets 22 on its inner face, in which rests the warp support 23 extending transversely of the loom between the side frames. A1; the front portion of theside frames is another warp support 24, shown in this instance as a bar extending between the side frames, and on the two warp sup ports 23 and 24 the warp threads should rest during weaving, consequently the plane extending between the top of the warp supports 23 and 24 should be in the plane of the warp threads leading between the whip roll and the shedding mechanism.
Under certain conditions of weaving and with certain kinds or characters of thread constituting the warp or in different looms, the whip roll occupies different positions. Sometimes it is higher, in the use of some warps, or in some looms, and at other times it is lower; consequently this variation in the position of the whip roll will vary the plane of the warp threads leading between the whip roll and the shedding mechanism, and in the absence of means to properly position the warp stop mechanism, and particularly the warp rests thereof, the warp threads will be bent over one or the other of the warp rests and consequently not properly maintain the drop wires in their supported position by the warp threads.
Each of the side frames 21 is provided with a depending flange25 which is provided with an arcuate guide 26, Figs. 2 and 3, formed on the arc of a circle correspondlng to the arcuate guide 19 of the crown piece, the arc of said guide being formed preferably about a center in a plane passing through the warp supports 23 and 24. In the present instance of the invention, the arcuate guide 19 is shown as a depression in the flange 18 of the crown piece, which is engaged by the arcuate guide 26, shown as a projection on the flange or web of the side frames. Each of the side frames is provided with slots 27 through which pass the bolts 20 and by which the side frames and crown piece are secured in operative position. By manual manipulation of the bolts, that is, by loosening the nuts 28, the warp stop mechanism as a whole may be angularly adjusted in conformity with the plane of the warp threadsextending between the whip roll and shedding mechanism. This condition is indicated in Fig. 1 wherein the warp stop mechanism is shown as adjusted to conform to the plane of the warp threads when the whip roll is higher than usual.
The warp stop mechanism, as indicated, is of the general type of that shown and described in the Davis and Johnson patent, previously referred to herein, but in conformity with the present invention, the parts of the warp stop mechanism are all carried by the adjustable side frames 21. Mounted in the side frames for movement transversely of the loom are the toothed detectors 29, Fig.
2, which pass through the usual slots formed in the drop wires 30, and connecting the movable toothed bar 29 with the actuators 31, of which there are four in the present instance, are the links 32, the construction being such that should the actuators'31 be actuated or moved in a direction transversely of the loom, the connected toothed bar or detector will be likewise actuated.
Extending outwardly from one of the side frames 21 are the brackets or arms 33 in which is mounted the shaft 34 carrying the rocker 35 on which are mounted the actuators 31. Each actuator 31 has two fulcra 36 by which it is supported upon the rocker 35, and a. spring 37 normally holds the actuators 31 in operative engagement with the rockers, as indicated in Fig. 2, with permissive movement, nevertheless, about one of its fulcra 36.

In a warp stop mechanism for looms, the combination of side frames having depending webs provided with a curved'guide and adapted to support the parts of the warp stop mechanism, an adjustable post at each side of the loom, a crown piece surmounting each post and provided with a curved guide for engagement with the curved guide of the side frames, one of said guides having curved slots and the other carrying bolts engaged with the slots for securing the side frames to the crown pieces in angular relation in conformity with the plane of the warp threads.

In a loom, the combination of the whi roll and shedding mechanism, a warp stop mechanism therebetween including side frames, a drop wire detector carried by the side frames, an actuator for the detector mounted upon one of the side frames, a Web carried by each side frame and having an arcuate guide, a side support for each side frame having a'complemental arcuate guide for directing the angular, movements of the side frames to place the warp supports in the plane of the warp threads, and means for securing the side frames in their angular related position.
