1,580,049 PATENT OFFICE.-
STEVE KARDOS, CLEVELAND, OHIO.
WINDOW-CLEANING nEvIoE.
Application nled February 20,l 1925.. Serial No. 10,621.
To all whom t maly concern:
Be it known that I, STEVE KARDos, a
ing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVindoW-Cleaning Devices, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to a window. seat,. the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby windows can.y be
' easily cleaned or otherwise worked upon by ya person sitting in the seat.
Another ob]ect of the invention is vto make the Ydevice adjustable so that it can be used on buildings of various kinds.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the Vcombination and arrangement of the several parts, to be' hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding partsk throughout the 'several views, and in whichz- Figure 1 is a sectional view through a portion of a building showing the devicein use.l v Y Figure 2 is a,l front view of the device. Figure 3 is a perspective vview thereof. Figure 4is a section on line4-4 of Figure 1.
board 3 is bolted to the other ends of the 1 bars. A second' seat board 4 ishinged to the board 3 by the hinges 5, this board engaging the horizontalv flanges of the bars 1 when in lowered position. A back frame `6k is hinged to the board 3 by the hinges 7 and this frame is held in raised yposition by the braces 8, the lower ends of which are detachably connected with the bars 1'by the bolts 9. Braces 10 are hingedto the bars 1 by thehinges 11 these braces have curved lower ends 12 lfor engaging the wall of a building, as shown in Figure ,-1. Links lrare pivoted to the braces -10 and are adj ustably connected with thebars 1 by.
bolts 14 which may pass through anyone of a plurality of holes 15 and 15 formed in the links and the bars so that the lbraces 10 can be adjustably connected with the bars 1 so that the device can be used with different kinds of buildings. In order to permit this adjustment the seat board 4 must be raised to permit access to the bolts 14, as shown in Figure 4.
As Vshown lin Figure 1 the bars 1 are p-laoedup'on the window sill with the strip 2 engaging the linner vpart of the sill and with-the curved ends of the braces 10 resting against the exterior wall of the building. Thus the` device will be firmly supported and a person can sitv uponthe same'and wash the window. When not in use the device can be folded so that it will occupy but little space.v y v f It is thought from kthe foregoing description that lthe advantagesand novel features ofy my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may i make changes in the construction and inthe combination and arrangement of the several jparts, provided that such changes-fall witha pair of angle shaped bars arranged in parallel spaced relation with each other and y each having one endvbent at right angles to the body portion, a cross piece connecting p 'the bent ends for engaging a window sill,
a seat board fastened to the horizontal flanges of said bars, a second 'seat board hinged to the first board and resting upon the horizontal flanges of the angle bars, a
vback -frame hingedly connected to the first seatV board, bracemembers connecting the back frame to the bars, brace lmembers hingedly connected to the bars at the ends thereof opposite the angular portions and having their freev endsy curved to engage a wall, links having their lower ends connected to the said last mentioned brace members and having their upper -ends formed with a plurality ofopenings, the vertical flanges vof the' bars having openings therein and.
bolts adapted to be'arranged in one of the openingsof the links and bars wherebyv to adjustablyV connect the links to said bars.
In testimony whereof I aiiX my signature.
s'rnvny lintimos.
