This invention relates to spring covers and more particularly to a cover for the leaf springs of automobiles intended to protect them from cellection' of dust and to maintainin contact with the spring a suitable lubricant therefor. A proper clipping of the leaf spring to prevent spreading thereof may be taken care of in either oneof two manners. In Figure 1, the cover is shown as provided at in "'tervals along its length with spring metal clips 24 having their edges included in the connection between the edges of thestrip of material and the clipping strips 11 and 12. In Figure 5, the spring clip already applied to the automobile is shown as having its bolt removed and its end portions bent to engage the spring. The strip of material forming the cover in this form of the device I is so formed as to provide a pocket wherethe clips of the sprin occur. This pocket may be formed by suddenly enlarging the material of the strip, as at 10, in Figure 6. It

I claim V 1. A spring cover for the leaf springs of vehicles comprising a tapered strip of material havingat its longitudinal edges metallic strips attached thereto and having their free edge portions oppositely reverted to provide interengaging hooks whereby the strip of material may be held in position about the spring and means for sealing the ends of the cover to the spring, each of said hooked portions of said strips having in its bight a compressible element forming a packing.

2. A cover for the leaf springs of vehicles comprising a tapered strip of material and two clip strips, each clip strip having one edge thereof reverted and clamped upon a corresponding edge of the strip of material, the free edges of the clip strips being oppositely reverted to provide interengaging hooks whereby the cover may be held in as sembled relation about the spring and means for sealing the ends of the cover to the sprlng.
