:Be a knewnthat I, BERNARD G. Smm-a'. citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and:
. State of Ohio, have 'invented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Combination Faucet Housing, of which the followi is a full, clear, and exact description, .ridge ence being had to the accompanying drawings. A l
- This invention relates to plumbin lxtures and especially to a combination aucet for a'kitchen sink. The essential object is to provide a cover for such'a fixture which may be secured Ilin position by means in-f cluding the faucet.' A further object is to provide a cover which may be easily secured in place over the faucet and which will .permit the `faucet` arts to be made rough or semiinished -.an at. the same time be ineasily accesmble position to facilitate adjustment or repairs. l j
Further objects include the provision of a soap container Vfor the cover in such .relation thereto that a neat'and balanced ap arance Further objects will .become apparent from the following description relating 'to ave the vaccompanying drawings wherein I shown a preferred form. The essential characteristics will beU summarized'-n the claims.V
In the drawings, Fig. 1 is :a vfrontjelevavation showingmy cover applied to a combinatio'n faucet fixture; Fig.:2 is a substantially central sectional. lan view showing the a ts of the faucet 1n elevation' Fi 3-` 4 P I g "'emplo nipples or 'esclitalico;xfholders 1-17A which' I may -"slip`r over Y'the' before f the 'handles are- .attached '.andfwhlch are proisa transversesecton as'indicat'ed' by the line 4--4 in Fig. 1; section as .indicated by' e Fig. 2; Fig. '6 vis a transverse crossv sectionas indicated Aby the line `in"-Fig. 5,'andA Fig. 7 is a fragmentadx"cross-sectionshow -ing a slightly modi retaining means.
v form -of my cover I propose 'to make my' cover of any' suit able material, Apreferablychina` or fof an enameled casting. The cover hasfope'nings through which the valve operating stems may project and as shown is arranged to be held against the pan'el or ysink apron by the use of nipples surrounding the stemand bearing against the outer surfaoef..-ofthe cover. The cover as shown has embodied- 4curves vwhereb very easily c be easily f It is within the spirit of .my

have shown an outlet branch line 4 which ipes to which are secured valve bodies f communicates throughanelbow 5 witnf a spout or nozzle 6. The nozzle as shown 1s arf ranged to be swung fromside to side, this ai'- rangement being acommon one-for dischargable removable handles at 8.

means of the faucet parts as distinguished for instance from securing the cover to the panel or apron of the sink by means indestruction of escutcheon holding means xarticularly adaptable to connections w ere there is a variation in the distance between the supply pipes. Such variation may be taken care of so far as the faucet is concerned b the provision of slip joints. shown, t e o ening 16 may be larger or elongated whi e the iange l16b on the nipple covers greater area to insure a complete closure irrespective of the position of the nipple with respect to the opening. Y l
One of the features of my invention 1s that a container for soap may be made a part of the cover and so arranged that the general appearance of the cover is enhanced by its rovision, while it in no way mterferes with the valve parts. The container bottom indicated at 20 is madea part of the upper wall of the cover as shown especial y in Fig. 5 and is below the general surface of the cover and connected thereto atits endsv bv end wall portions 21. Forwardly this ottom merges into the cover wall at 22 and a brim 23 rises from this lso - its rear ed e.
they may be correspondingly lighter.
aware that m invention is capable of modido not wish to limit myself` in carrying out my invention to 'mere constructio'nal details.
mer ing line and curves outwardlyy and upwar lyas shown. This brim turns rearwardly at the corners of the receptacle and merges into the cover wall substantially at madeof china, the walls may be quite heavy' as shownl to provide against breakage, while if cast or stamped metal is employed,
