IMPROVEMENT IN HOSE-COUPLINGS.

To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, J osiAH W. KENNEDY, of St. Louis, in the county of St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a certain Improved HoseGoupling, of which the followin g is a specification:
This invention is an improvement on the subject-matter .of patent No. 150,764, granted nie May 12, 1874, for improvement in hosecouplings; and consists in the formation of the annular sleeve that binds or clamps the hose against the annular rim of the internal tube section with an inwardly-projecting annular flange that engages against an o'set 011 the internal tubesection, as will hereinafter more fully appear.
The drawing represents my improved coupling, half in elevation and half in diametric section.
A A are internal tube-sections, each of which have their outer ends screw-threaded, for the reception of au annular rim, B. The sections A A are provided with offsets a a, against which the inwardly-projecting flange c of the clamping-sleeve O abuts, so that the sleeve O will be held in place when the tubesection A is screwed into the rim B, to draw it and the sleeve O together, and thereby clamp the hose between them. In the female part of the coupling the tube-seetion A is provided with a secondary otfset, a1, for the reception of the coupling-sleeve D, which screws onto the screw-threaded part a2 of the male part to effect a coupling ofthe parts A A.
The manner of applying the coupling to a hose Will be similar to my former coupling
