IMPROVEMENT IN CIGARS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 157,755, dated December 15, 1874; application filed October 10,1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS S. LIVERMORE, ofRochdale, in the county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvementin Cigars, of which the followingis a specification:
My invention relates to the lighting of cigars by the use of friction-matches, and is designed to furnish a ready means of lighting the match, by providing a suitable place on the cigar to rub the match on.
This I accomplish by making a band with a roughened surface, and slipping the band on the cigar just snug enough to retain it till used; then it mayberemoved easily or burned up, or the piece of roughened material maybe held by being partly covered by the Wrapper of the cigar, or by being gummed or otherwise fastened to the same, so as to be easily removed when it has been used.
