The body portion upon which the work table 10 is formed is provided with a holding clamp 12 which extends across the same and is arranged to hold the clamping niember 12 into engaging position by means ot the cam levers 14 lwhich are positioned at either end of the clamp. These members are of ordinary construction and the cam surfaces of which engage against the top of the work table to elevate the engaging edge 15 of the clamp off the surface of the table 10.
Directly in back of the clan'ip 12,l elevated above the table surface, is an ink or color holding tray 16 which is divided into several compartments so as to receive the color cakes 1.7 and 1S, while a compartment in the center is formed which is suitable tor holding the stenciling brush 19. On either sid-e of the color cakes are positioned und lirmly held moisture jars. These jars are held by the recess 2l formed in the compartment adjacent the color cakes. It is essential that the moisture jars 2O 'be held firmly in place while in use so that the stencil brush 19 can be readily inserted within the same for moisture before it is applied to the color cake.
In providing means for holdingv the moisture jars 20 firmly in place while in use` the operator can use both hands, one to hold the stencil and one to operate the stenciling brush. Yet the moisture jars are removed from the recess 2l so that they can be stored away within the drawer (l when not desired for use.
The drawer C is formed with a central stenciling compartment 22 in which the stencils 23 are arranged in suitable. orde-r with the smaller stencils in the bottom and increasing toward the top. This arrangement permits various size letters to be held compactly within the compartment 22 in an ordinary manner readily accessible for use.
The stenciling device A is 'formed with a backwardly inclined shelf 2t and a pair of engaging members 25 are secured to either end of the shelf which are adapted to engage the projecting tongues 26 formed on the front of thel drawer C and which project from either end of the same. These tongues 26 hold the drawer C in a backward inclined position extending upward so that the compartment 22 is readily accessible to the operator with the upper edges 0f the stencil compartments in view so that the desired stencil can be selected.
The drawer C is formed so that compartments 28 are formed at either end of the coni partment 22 and a compartment 29 is formed along the back or upper side ot the drawer t when the same is positioned extending upward from the body portion l. These coinpartments form suitable space for holding the moisture jars 2O and the stenciling brush 19 together with any other articles which may be used in connection with the making ot' signs by means ot' the steneiling apparatus. It is desirable, to have coiujmrtments for storage ot' articles ot this nature so that the entire stenciling device can be compat-tij7 arranged together and stored away when not desired tor use.

Each stencil is provided with indicating marks 31 along the longitudinal edges and adjacent these indicating marks is positioned indicia 32 to indicate either portion of an inch or a suitable scale which is used in conjunction with the scale 33 e);- tending along the engaging edge 15 oi the clamp 12 so as to indicate the distance or space between each letter for that particular stencil.

By measuring the card D on the scale 3? and then raising the clamping member' 12, it can be slid freely along beneath the clamp and petitioned so that the right hand edge will be positioned directly atthe number on the scale 38 indicating the overall dimension as indicated by the scale 37 so as to position the card D centrally on the table 10.

In this construction, the scales are removed from the surface of the work table 10 and arranged on the clamping member 12, where these scales perform the desired function to co` operate with the scales to space the letters the proper distance apart and to divide the card centrally so as to properly space and position the sign on the same.
The invention includes the arrangement of the moisture holding means adjacent the Color cakes together with the compact arrangement of the stencils in the drawer C which cooperate with the scale means by being held in accessible position so that the desired stencil can be brought into Vuse quickly and gauged accurately by the scales to stencil a sifrn on a card in a neat and c u u l precise manner which can be readily accomplished by the arrangement set forth in the drawings by an unskilled person. This arrangement and positioning of the parts of my stenciling device permits the operator to use both hands in manipulating both the stencil and the stenciling brush which increases the accuracy of the sign and reduces than those set forth Within the scope of the 'following claims.
I claim:

A stenciling device including a series of stencils, means for holding said stencils in a concealed or displalv7 position, a stenciling table, a clamping means having a central point, a series of scales adapted to indicate the overall dimension et a card to be stenciled upon and to indicate 'the center of the card and to indicate the movement oi? the stencil vvhereby a displayv can be stenciled equally spa-ced on either side ot the center oi the card held in said clamp, a tray positioned in bacli and above said clamping device having` a bacliivardly inclined shel'l, whereby a card may be passed over said stenciling` table through said clamping means and l eneath said tra y ivhile being stenciled.

A stenciling device including` means for holding, concealed or displayed a. series ot stencils, a stenciling table, a squaring member adapted to position a card upon the-devicev` means 1to1l holding said squaringmember from free movement, means for rigidli7 holdingthe card in place, said means comprising a longitudinally. positioned scale clamp pivotally mounted above the surface of the stenciling table, a central indicating means carried b v said longitudinal clamp adapted to indicate the center ot the card to be stenciled on and scale means associated therewith vvherebv the card can be measured and positioned centrally as indicated b v said centering point to permit the configuration to be stenciled unto the card extending equally from either side of the horizontal line ol the card`r and a tray positioned in back and above said clamp.

A stenciling apparatus including a clamping member adapted to form a horizontal straight edge, a T square member slidably arranged at right angles in relation to the horizontal edge ot said clamping member, means for holding said T square against free movement to permit a card to be squared against the vertical edge thereof and to be clamped by said clamp and a series of scales associated with said clamp and T square to indicate on a card held in said clamp the central position ot the card, the vertical height of letters to be stenciled on the card and the space that the letters ot' the stencil are to be spaced to make a uniform display with the letters equallv7 spaced apart and centrally positioned upon the card being stenciled, and a tray positioned in back and above said clamp having a bacliivardly inclined shelf.
