To all on]: am it may concern Be it known that l'. 'lrroMAsH, RAGLAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Texarkana, in the county of Bowie and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Toilet-Seat ushion, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to sanitary seat cushion and aims to provide adevice of this character which will he padded for the convenience of the user.
An important object f the invention is to providimwel means which will he adjust able for use in connection with seats of Wk rious diameters.
A still further object of the invention 15 the provision of means for securing the cushion to the seat to which the cover is applied. i
With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangen'ient of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view. of the cushion showing the same as applied.
Figure 2 is a fragmental plan View disclosing the adjacent ends of the cushion.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the upper section of the cushion and the reference 40 character 6 designates the lower section thereof, each section being preferably oval in formation to conform to the curvature of the seat in which the same is positioned.
The sections 5 and 6 are secured at their edges by means of the lines of stitching indicated at 7.
drawing, the sections 5 and 6 are of sizeswhereby they will define a pocketwhen secured together, which pocket receives the padded material 8. Flexible securing members 9 are connected with the cover and have their ends tied as at 10, thereby providing means for securing the cushion against displacement when positioned on a seat.
The ends of the cushion are indicated at 11 and 12, the end 12 being relatively fiat to lie under the end 11 so that the cushion may be expanded or contracted to adjust the same for use, the. flattened portion 12 acting as a guard to prevent contact of the persons body with the seat, when the cushion has been expanded.
It might be further stated that the sections 5 and 6 of the cushion are formed preferably of leather material which may be easily cleaned, and maintained in a sanitary condition.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the cushion not only protects the user from contact with the seat on which the same is positioned, but at the same time provides a cushion for the convenience of the user.
What is claimed as new is A seat cover comprising a circular split body portion comprising strips of cloth material sewed together at their edges, padding material positioned between the strips of cloth material to provide a cushion, flexible securing members secured to the edges of the body portion and adapted to be secured around a seat to hold the seat cover in position, the ends of the strips at one end of the body portion being sewed together to provide a tongue adapted to fit under the opposite end of the body portion to provide an adjust-able protector and cover.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature.
