Description
' M. B. HUNTER.-
Water-Coolersf WiINELsE5= Patented De'c.1,1874.
UNITED TATES MARTIN B. HUNTER, OF BEDFORD, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN WATER-COOLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 157,402, dated December 1, 1874; application filed September 5, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN B. HUNTER, of Bedford, in the county of Bedford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Water-Coolers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the annexed drawing, in which Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved cooler; and Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are detached views of the same.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are designated by like letters.
This invention relates to a certain im provement in water-coolers; and it consists of a perforated ice-chamber having a detachable sediment-chamber, and of supporting the ice chamber or receptacle upon a removable frame having a sloping rim extending to the inner surface of the cooler, substantially as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawing, A refers to the cooler proper, having the faucet a for drawing off its contents, and a cover,.a, for closing the opening through which Water and ice are introduced thereto. B refers to the perforated ice chamber or receptacle, having the detachable sediment-chamber b, which is provided with inner projections or lugs b N, entering angular slots 1) 11"", cut in the lower edge of the ice-chamber, to permit of their separation in removing the sediment from the chamber b. O is a frame or stand, supporting the ice chamber or receptacle B, having a flange resting thereon, and supplied With a sloping rim, 0, extending to the inner surface of the cooler A, protecting the water below from falling particles of dirt, 821e, and acting as a conductor to direct the water, as it is poured into the cooler, into the filter B, formed by the perforations or wire-cloth of the ice-chamber, to render the water pure in the chamber around and beneath the ice and sediment chambers, from which it is drawn off by the faucet a when desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat cut, is-
1. The perforated ice chamber or receptacle B, having the detachablesediment-chamber b, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The frame or stand 0, having the sloping rim or conductor 0, in combination with the ice chamber or receptacle B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. I
3. The cooler proper A, frame or stand 0 0, ice chamber or receptacle B, and sedimentchamber I), in combination, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MARTIN B. HUNTER.
Witnesses:
