The present invention relates to power` operated doors especially designed for use rin connection with incinerators,ash pits,rail
'constructions as to cause the doors to move upwardlyto their active positions when they have reached a predetermined position.
lith the foregoing and other objects in view which. will appear the description proceeds, the invention resides in the coinbination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spiritof the invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 designates the bottom of an incinei'ator, ash pit or the like, which is formed with the usual dis-charge opening G through which material may be removed.
The opening is supplied with a rectangular frame 'T which has an inclined wall 8 adapted to cooperate with the inclined flange 9 formed integral with the door sections 10, the door sections being formed preferably of metal and constructed to closely tit within the frame. 4
Supported directly un( er trie opening I-beams 11 which not only act as braces for the bottom 5, butv provide trackways for the carriages, to be hereinafter more fully described, the. lower inner flanges of the I- beams being shown as supportingthe rollers 12 which are tapered to properly lit the inclinations of the flanges.
Each of the carriages includes a bat-:o 1B formed with suitable openings to accommodate the shafts 14 on which the wheels 12 are positioned there being provided links 15 connected withuthe shafts in such a way as to swing with respect thereto to accomplish the opening and closing of the door sections.
Depending from the under surface of each door sec-tion are spaced apertured ears 1G between which the links 15 ojerate, there being provided suitable pivot pins 1.7 for connecting the links to the cars.
Extending inwardly from the I-beams 11 are flanges 18 that have nlinvardly curved ends lying in proximity to the openings G, the flanges being of such widths as to extend into the path of travel of the closure sections 10 as they'are moved from their closing position, with the result that as the carriages 13 are moved, the closures will follow the lianges 18 resulting in the closures being moved from their open to their closed positions or vice versa, according to the direction of travel of the carriages 13.
Associated with the carriages, and disposed adjacent to the ends of the I-beams, are cylinders 19 mounted on the arms 2O that are secured to the under surface of the bottom 5. Operating Within the cylinders 19 are pistons 21 that have connection with the piston rods 22, the forward ends of which are secured to the carriages 13,
P all@ so that movement of the pistons within the cylinders will result in a relative movement. of the carriages to operate the closures.
In the form of the invention as illustrated by Figure 2 of the drawings, a single door is illustrated as operated by a power device, the door beingl indicated by toe refe"- ence character Z-l and shown as connected with the carriage 25 by means of the connecting links 2G in such a way that the door @il may nzove vertically with respect to the carriage 25.
The carriage operates ontlie lower sections of the I-beains 27 supported under the floor 28 and are of lengths to permit the door 2lito move to a position in spaced relation with the opening closed by the door. It is to be understood tha twoY of these -heains are employed and arranged in spaced relation with each other on opposite sides of the door Q4, providing` trackways for the rollers 29 that support the carriage Connected with the carriage 25 is an operating rod 3() carrying a piston 5:51 at one end, which piston moves in the cylinder 32. Suitable pipes 33 establish communication between ythe cylinder Bil and a sonrce of liquid supply so that by controlling a suitable vaive not shown, fluid may be forced into the ent s of the cylinder to cause the operation of the rod.
In Figure 5, the cylinder is indicated at 34 in which the pistons 35 operate, the pistons 'being designed to control the opening` and closingl of the closures 36 from a point laterally thereof.
Connected with the pistons are 'he rods 37 that have connection with the vrods 38 .shown as extending;` inwardly and connected with the central portions of the closures 36. In this form of the invention, fluid enters the cylinder through the pipe 39 which reclined closure l2 adapted to close the discharge end of the hopper 413 secured under the liooringl i4 in a manner to receive the contents or material supported on the floor. Space'd I-beains l5 provide the traclrway for the rollers and are supported in a suitable manner under the floor dll. Disposed at on end of the I-bca-m 45 is a cylinder i-6 in which operates a piston mounted on one end of the piston rod 47 that has its forward end connected with the closure l2 at 4S.
From the foreooing; it will be obvious that due to the const yLively large closures supporting y in nipulai'inggl a suitable valve.
It is believed that in view of the foregoing; detail description, a farther detail description as to the operation of the device is iinnecessary. i
I claim:

In a device ol the character described, a floor having an owning, a traclrway under the opening, a carriage adapted to inove longitudinally of the tracllway, pivote/l link members mounted on the carriage, a 'door ll pivotal connection rwith the upper ends of the link n'ieinbers, means for moving o., and said door adapted to move npwardl', to close the openingg` in the floor.
In a device of the character described, a fioor having an opening, a traclway positioned under' the opening', a wall at the A id of the tract:wav` a carri eje adapted to move on the 'traeliwayg linl.; members mounted on the carriage, a closure pivotally connected with the upper ends of the linlr members, said closure adapted to swing` downwardly onto the carriage, the -f,rward end of the closure adapted to neri Y, in advance of the caij'riage to engage the wall, and means for moving the carriage forwardly toelevate vthe closure.
In a device of the character described,
a floor having*` an opening', a tracltway disposed under the opening', a carriage movable longitudinally of the tiaclrwaynvlinlr ineinhers pivotally connected with the carriage, a closure pivotally connected with the upper it may be readily and easily'opictitin as shown and deleo ends of the link members, a flange providing a track and having upwardly exteiioed ends disposed within the opening, said closure adapted to ride on the last mentioned track, and means for moving' the carriage forwardly to move the closure into the opening.
