Be it known that I, GORDON B. POLLOCK, a

citizen of the United States, residing at Hollywood, Los Angeles, county of Los Angeles, and State of California, have invented a new and useful Bracket, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a bracket primarily intended for suspending and sealing a dispenser of the type commonly employed for holding and delivering paste and creams such as tooth paste, shaving cream and the like, although various other forms of containers or dlspensers may be employed therewith.

Heretofore, much annoyance and inconvenience to the user of such dispensers has occurred from a tendency .of the caps employed therewith to become misplaced whereafter the dispenser cannot be properly sealed fromthe elements and partial drying of the materials therein, with a corresponding change in their properties, takes place.

' Moreover, the loss of the cap will result in the contents of the dispenser being accidentally expelled therefrom with. considerable annoyance to the user.

An'object of this. invention is to provide a form of bracket which maybe used for supporting and suspending such dispenser and holding the same sealed from the elements so that the loss or mis 'lacement of the cap will not result in the isadvantages heretofore referred to and so that use of such dispensers and the contents thereofmay be greatly facilitated.

' In the'drawings, first referring to the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive, the bracket is intended to support and seal such dispensers, as generally indicated by 1, which are provided with a neck 2 from which the contents of thedispenser are de-- livered through anopening at the top of said neck 2. The bracket comprises a closure 3 which is cap-shaped in form and adapted to fit over a portion of the 'neck2 of said dispenser 1. Preferably within the closure 3 is provided packing material, in-' dicated at 4, which may be of cork or other similar material. Said closure 3 is rigid with and preferably forms an integral part of an arm 5 which is preferablydisposed ip substantially a horizontal plane. Means are provided for supporting the arm 5 and thereby the closure 3. In this embodiment of the invention said means comprise a substantially vertical -plate'6- integral with the arm 5 and extending downwardly from one end thereof. Said plate 6 is attached to a I support such as the standard'7 by means of screw 8. To preserve the customary cap of the dispenser 1, a section of the arm is pressed upward to form athreaded knob 9 to which the cap 16 of the dispenser 1 is secured.

The gripper 11 extends from one end of the arm 5 to a position below the gripper 10 whereat the gripper is .provided with an opening 13 of substantially the same size as the opening 12 in the gripper 10. Said openings 12 and 13 are normally maintained slightly staggered or eccentric. A hook 14 extends from the arm 5 and may be used to support a brush as indicated in Fig.1. 'In this embodiment of the invention all of thecomponent parts of the bracket are formed of spring metal.

In operation the cap of the dispenser 1 is first removed and secured to the knob 9. To engage the bracket with the dispenser pressure is applied to the arm 5 or closure 3 to press the same down, thereby the openings 12 and 13 of the gripper members will be aligned. The dispenser 1 is then inserted through the openings 12 and 13 and up with the top of the neck 2 extending into the closure 3 and engaging the'packing material 4. On release of the pressure applied to the arm 5 or-closure 3 the grippers 10 and 11 will again tend to assume the position in-' .dicated in Fig. 2 whereat the openings '12 and 13 are eccentric. The walls of the said openings thereby tend to close in on the neck 2 of-the dispenser and thus grip and suspend the dispenser from the bracket. To

The bracket is formed in substantially one piece with an arm 5 extending horizontally from the closure '3 and bent vertically downward at its end to provide a vertical section 6", which in this embodime at of theinvention is provided with' a. slit, through which screw 8 is passed to support the same. With this form of bracket the dispenser arm 10" and the arm 10 pressed downward to permit the neck 2 of the dispenser to pass into the closure 3 of the bracket whereupon on release of the gripper arm 10" the dispenser-will be pressed upward against the packing material 4 and the dispenser thus supported and sealed from the elements.

In the embodiment shown in Figs. 6 and 7 the bracket is provided with a closure 3" of a size to fit over the neck 2 of the dispenser 1. Said closure 3" is preferably integral with an arm 5" which'extends horizontally from the closure and is bent downwardly at one end to provide a vertical section 6" by which the bracket may be supported from a standard or other object by means of screws such as 8". From the lower end of .the section 6" the bracket extends outwardly and upwardly as indicated at 18 and engages the arm 5" to provide a brace for the same. Below the closure 3" is provided a gripper 10" which in this embodiment of the invention is formed by a coil of the dispenser to be suspended by the bracket,

.To engage the dispenser with the bracketthe ends '19 of the gripper 10" are pressed 'together which will cause the diameter of the gripper member 10" to be somewhat enlarged, whereupon the dispenser is inserted through the gripper 10" until it engages in the closure 3". Upon release the ends 19 of gripper 10" will contract about the neck 2 of the dispenser and hold the same against the closure 3", thus suspending and sealing "the dispenser.

While I have shown a number of embodiments this invention may take and have illustrated the preferred form of the invention, it is understood that the invention may beembodied in numerous other forms with out departing from the spirit of the invention. This invention is of the scope set forth in the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A bracket of the class described 0.0mprising an arm provi a cap-shaped closure provided withpackmg means, a resilient gripper arm extending below the closure, and gripping edges provided by the first mentioned arm and resilient gripper respectively, said gripping edges being -nor-- mally yieldingly held out of alignment and adapted, by pressure upon said first mentioned arm, to be'broughtinto alignment.

' 2. A bracket for suspending and sealing a dispeiiser having a reduced neck providing ap outlet for the dispenser, -which bracketmcludes an arm providing a capend of the closure and having a gripping edge, and agripping edge provided by said first arm and normally resiliently urged. towards a gripping position out of align-. ment with the other grippingedge, said two grip ing edges being so related as to be broug t into alignment by pressure exerted upon said bracket.

3. A bracket for suspending and sealing a dispenser having a reduced neck providing an outlet, which bracketembodies an arm having a cap-shaped closure for the dispenser, 'a resilient gripper extending 'below the cap shaped closure,-said gripper being provided with 'an openin below said cap-shaped closure and yiel ingly main tamed out oi -alignment therewith, means carried by said arm, providing a second open" ing below' said cap-shaped closure, said openings and ca -shaped closure being adapted to be registered by pressure upon the arm, and means for supporting the bracket. l

4. In a bracket of the class described, two arms having gripping edges, means for supporting the arms from spaced oints'about which the arms are adapted td ex, the arms extending therefrom into a cooperating position and being operative by'flexing about their spaced points of support to assume both gri ping and non-gripping positions, one of t e arms also serving as a closure member. 1
