Be it known that I, MnLvIN L. STONE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lawrence, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in larp Stop Mechanisms p for Looms, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is specilication, like characters on the drawings representing like parts.
This inventionfrelates to warp stop mechanisms for looms and-is more particularly directed to means for maintaining the drop wires from lateral displacement or swinging' into close engagement, such that should a warp thread become too slack or be broken,
' the unsupported drop wire may not promptly move to stopping position, with the result that imperfect cloth is liable to be woven. In changing the warps in a loom, also, it is now frequently the practice to remove the old warp from the loom while the drop wires are stillstrung upon the warp threads and ,to hold the drop wires in close relation on the drop wire guides during their transportation to the tying in or drawing in machine. y
One of the objectsof the present invention, therefore, is to provide a warp stop mechanism of the type wherein the drop wires are normally supported by the warp threads during weaving with drop wire separators for dividing the series of drop wires into groups to overcome the tendency to lateral swaying movement, and yet permit the drop wires to be assembled in close relation during thetransfer of the drop wires and old warp threads to the tying in or drawing in machines.
The novel features of the invention and new combination of parts kwill best be made clear from the following description and the thereof;

' The warp stop mechanism is of that general typewherein a series of drop wires are normally supported by the warp threads be tween the shedding mechanism and whip roll during weaving, and, as shown, comprises the end frames l adjustably supported in position, as usual, by the bolts 2, only one of which is indicated in the drawingsn Extending between the end frames 1 are the warp supporting` bars 3 on which the warp threads a: rest during the weaving operation and whereby they are enabled to properly support the drop wires in raised position.
In the present instance of the invention, two rows of drop wires fl, 4t are indicated for the purposes of description and each drop wire is provided with an elongated slot 5 through which pass the drop wire guides 6, the end portions of which are supported in bearings on the end frames 1, as indicated in Fig. 3. In order to maintain the drop wire guides `6 in their normal position during weaving, the end portions of the drop wire guides `are held in position by cap plates 7 which may be conveniently secured in place by securing means such as the screws 8. The drop wires are each provided, inthe present instance. with anopening 9 through each of which passes a warp thread o: where` by the warp threads are enabled to normally support the dropwires in raised position duringr weaving. The present invention is not necessarily restricted tothe particular form of drop wires indicated, but the characteristics and novel features ofthe invention may be advantageously employed with various forms of drop wires of which there are a number of well-known types.

In order that the drop Wire separators 18 may be sinniltaneously moved to and from their position between the drop wires, the rock shatts 1:1, 1G are mounted for rocking movement and one, at least, is provided With manual means 'tor turning the rock shaft, and Where one only ot Such manual means is employed` the tivo rock shafts are connected together for rocking movement in unison and in opposite directions. In the present instance ot the invention, the roclr shattis shown as provided with the crank arm 20 carrying' the hand piece 21 whereby the rock shatt 15 may be manually turned in its bearings to move the separators 18 to and from their drop Wire separating positions.
Each ot the rock shafts is provided with a toothed segment 22 which are geared together, as shown, whereby rocking or turning movement of one shaft is imparted to the other shaft in an opposite direction, to thereby carry the drop Wire separators ot both shafts to and from their drop Wire separating positions.

TW hat is claimed is:
l. In a warp stop mechanism for looms, the combination of a series of drop wires normally supported in raised position by the wairp threads during weaving, warp supporting bars extending in parallel relation to the series of drop wires, a drop wire separator rock shaft mounted for rocking movement, a series of drop wire separators carried by the rock shaft, means for turning the rock shaft to move the drop wire separators between the drop wires, and a loclr for holding the rock shaft in tirned position.
2. In a warp stop mechanism, the co1nbination of a series of drop wires normally supported by the warp threads during weaving, a drop wire separator rock shaft. a series of drop wire separators carried by the rock shaft for insertion between the drop wires, and a lock for holdingthe rock shaft in position with the separators between the drop wires.`
3. In a Warp stop mechsitnisnrT the combination of a series of drop wires normally supported by the warp threads dui-ir. eaving, a drop Wire separator rock shaft, a series of drop wire separators formed as thin plates carried by the rock shaft for insertion between the drop wires and a lock for holding the rock shaft in position with the separators between the drop wires.
4. In a warp stop mechanism` the combination of a series of drop wires normally supported by the warp threads during weaving,` a drop wire separatorrock shaft, a series of drop wire separators mounted on the rock shaft for adjustment to different positions lengthwise thereof for insertion between the drop wires, and means for ttrnlng the rock shaft to simultaneously insert the separators between the drop wires and remove them therefrom.
5.` In a warp stop mechanism, the combination of two series of drop wires nor mally supported by the warp threads during weaving, a drop wire separator rock shaft mounted adjacent each series of drop wires and provided with drop Wire separators, operative connections between the two drop wire separator rock shafts that they may be rocked in unison, and means for rocking one of said shafts to insert and with draw the separators of both shafts.
6. In a warp stop mechanism, the com bination of two series of drop aires normally supported by the warp threads during weaving, a drop wire separator rock shaft mounted adjacent each series of drop wires and provided with drop wire separators, operative connections between the two drop wire separator roclrshafts that they may be rocked in unison, means for rocking one of said shafts to insert and withdraw the separators of both shafts, and a lock for holding `the rock shafts with the separators inserted `between the drop wires.
7. In a warp stop mechanism, the combination of two series of drop wires normally `supported by the vrarp threads during weaving, a drop wire separator rock shaft mounted adjacent each series of drop wires and provided with drop wire separators, gearing connecting, the two rock shafts to cause them to simultaneously insert and withdraw the separators, and a lock for holding the rock shafts in turned position.
