ANCHOR.

Be it known that I, FRnnRIoK O. FIELD- ING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Coalinga, in the county of Fresno and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Anchor, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in anchors and has for its prime object to provide av novel and, easy means of supporting a telegraph pole, fence post, etc. in a vertical position. A furtherobj ct of my invention is to provide an anchoring means whereby said anchor is formed with a beveled cutting edge so that the anchor may be easily and quickly driven into the ground.
A still further object of my invention is to provide an anchor that after being driven into the ground will assume a position at right angles to the object being supported, so that it will be impossible to dislodge the anchor from the ground.
And a still further object of my invention is to provide an anchoring device of the character indicated, which is simple in c0nstruction, durable, efficient for the purpose intended, and one that can be manufactured and placed on the market at a relatively low cost.
These and like objects of the invention will be betternnderstood as the description follows and as is specifically pointed out in. the appended claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved anchoring means.

Figure 4- is a side elevation of the rod, partly broken away, which is used for driving my improved anchor into the ground.

In the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates as a whole my improved anchor, which comprises a fiat diamond shaped blade having bevelled cutting edges 2 formed on the front ends of same. The upper face of the blade 1 is provided with an eye 3 that is secured thereto in any suitable manner, and con nected to the eye 3 is a rod l, that extends beyond the surfaceiof the ground and is formed with an eye 5 in the upper end of same, so that a cable 6 may be attached thereto at one-end. and the opposite end of the cable engaging a telegraph pole 7 in any suitable manner so as to support the latter in a vertical position as is clearly indicated in Figure 1.
In order to force the anchor 1 into the ground, the heel of same is provided with a recess 8 therein, for receiving the end of a rod 9.
It can be thus seen that when the anchor 1 is placed downwardly in the ground and pressure is applied to the head of the rod 9, the anchor 1 by means of the beveled cutting blade 2 is forced downwardly into the ground and caused to assume the position indicated in Figure 1 when a strain is placed on the rod 4.
In order to prevent the anchor 1 from turning over, a lip 10 is formed on the underside of the anchor, which prevents the strain of the pole or post from pulling the anchor over.
In view of the foregoing description of my invention taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. it is thought that any further explanation as to the construction, operation, and objects of my lH'iPHijlOU, R5 is unnecessary.
While I have shown and described the preferred. form of my invention, I realize that various minor changes may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed, and therefore, I do not wish to limit myself to the exact details of construction shown, nor to the combination and arrangement of parts,
